Samsons dad
Hi all
My name is Stu and I have had my 5 month old isbt for around 2-3 months now and loving it!
He is a pied blue Irish with lovely markings and all the family love him dearly. He is my first staffy but my girlfriend has had staffs before.
He is chipped and insured and sees the vet once a month for a weigh in, check up and flea and wormer.
I take him on two half hour walks a day that will be upped with time but on a weekend we go to the park for a good play with his rope tyre.
He is good with people and great with other dogs and in open spaces he is very good off the lead even from day one he sticks with in a few metres of me constantly looking back for reassurance.
Sam is nearly house trained. We have a 2x2meter pen for him whilst we are in bed but started to leave him out of the pen while we are out the house. We have also started to only put a mat down for him at night and in most cases he has held his wee til morning.
Alls going good just after some friendly advice and tips to keep him in top shape and hints and tips on behaviour etc.
Thanks all

Re: Samsons dad
P.S. Why do you call him an 'Irish' Staffordshire Bull Terrier? There's only one Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

When I googled blue staffs two morphs if you like popped up. One was a short leg really chunky and a more althaletic looking long leg staff. I wondered why they looked different? I read on on some of the images and the long legged ones we labelled as 'Irish'?
I then googled Irish staff history and a site popped up(forget what it was called) saying the Irish is a long legged more althaletic looking dog than the 'English' stocky type. It talked about breeding and the differences between the two types.
I just assumed Sam was an Irish from the description of the Irish morph. Also quite a few people mention on walks that he is Irish? I just agree as this is what I thought was true?
Cheers

Re: Samsons dad
The so-called Irish Staff is another word for a pitbull or stafford cross (crossed to look like a pitbull). Staffords come in all shapes and sizes, some are taller and more 'terrier' type, and some are shorter, stockier and are more 'bully' type - but they're still Staffords!

Thank you for that. He seems to happy enough. To be fair he is very good for a puppy and makes having him easier. I did a fair amount of reading before we got him about pack leader and training tips that all seems to working really well.
Cheers
