Raw Eggs
Gave Loki an egg today...it took him about five minutes to eat it. He didnt know it was food, and when some of it spilled out, he licked it all until it was more or less empty...then decided to eat the shell . Anyway, I was wondering how often you can give them eggs? Is it bad to give them everyday?

Re: Raw Eggs
I give an egg a day if you feed the whole egg then it's balanced in terms of biotin etc also duck eggs if you can find them are much more nutrient rich

Re: Raw Eggs
I give eggs 4-5 times a week usually! I don't always give the shell, if I don't I put a sprinkling of crushed shell over it

Re: Raw Eggs
Mani won't eat the shell so I mix it w/ his food. We give one every other day or so.

Re: Raw Eggs
Dempsey gets them at random! Depends how many eggs I have & whether I want to get rid of some.
But you can give them every day as long as the whole egg is given, not just the yolk. I think most people give 3 or 4 a week, though.

Bailey used to do that, now if I don't give the shell I let it dry out and crush it up to a powder and then sprinkle it onto the next egg he gets

Re: Raw Eggs
I give them once or twice a week, we get plenty from our chickens and have to make sure the dogs don't find one of their hidden 'nests' (usually an arrangement of twigs under a bush) and eat the lot!

Re: Raw Eggs
Stu......sounds like my mum. "Well if you don't eat it you can have it for breakfast"
Lc now I can see how giving your dogs eggs could back fire

Re: Raw Eggs
When I had Dobe puppies, I always gave them a raw egg every day in their breakfast, complete with crumbled up shell (calcium and all that).
When we got our Staff puppy, the raw egg in his breakfast regime was continued, less the eggshell which he wouldn't contemplate!
I must admit I haven't fed him eggs since baby puppyhood - maybe I should?

Re: Raw Eggs
Cool, thanks everyone he eats the whole egg, he saves the shell for last. He had one for breakfast for the second time and was going to walk away, then kind of had this "Ah, I'll eat the shell too" thing about him they are funny.
