Jumping at other dogs faces
I've noticed Lola doing this to a couple of dogs, but not all. The last two have been a lab and an alsation, thankfully both reacted well, and nothing came of it. It's just a very quick leap at the face, no snapping or biting, and once it's done she backs off. I'm guessing its a "dominance" thing, your bigger than me but I won't be bullied kind of thing.
Just wondering if its behaviour I can change, as I don't like her doing it, or if its just normal behaviour that I shouldn't be too concerned about.
Any takers?

Re: Jumping at other dogs faces
Logan can be a nightmare around certain breeds, namely Alsatians and Huskys. Which came from a few nasty experiences as a young pup.
To me the jumping towards the other dog is more an excited thing though. I too don't really like Logan doing that so if needed I stop and have Logan look up at me until the dog passes then praise him for acting calmly. You can try a treat or toy to get attention if it helps. Some dogs do the jumping at other dogs because they are frustrated being stuck on a lead so when possible let Lola socialise as much as she can.

The last few have been off lead incidents, on lead she's an angel. The alsation yesterday was my uncles dog, and he wanted them to meet off lead, and wasn't at all bothered by it, and after the incident they were both calm and happy and walked for over an hour without another incident

Bruno does the same sometimes he is just so excited if you don't like her to do that just correct her wait until she will be calm and let her go back to the play

Re: Jumping at other dogs faces
Loki does this, I've never seen it as dominance because he's perfectly fine with his best friend humping him, so I've always considered nothing he does is to assert dominance. I think it's just part of playing, Loki tries to climb onto dogs' faces sometimes . If you don't like it, I guess just move her away for a moment when she does it and hopefully she'll realise it's not an acceptable way to play.
