Pup limping! Empty Pup limping!

Post by Tiny Sun Feb 03 2013, 15:36

Hi all after some advice please, my dog who is just 5 months decided to jump up and try get at the washing as my other half was hanging it, a very playful pup! as he tried to jump he landed awkwardly and gave out a yelp, he is now limping on the right hand side hind leg, we immediately checked it and moved it each joint about, checked the paws incase any stones etc but nothing seems to be that apparent.

He does not mind us touching his leg for examination and he does not seem to be in much pain as he is still his normal self.....is there anything we can do to help him or is it a simple waiting game....I will take him to the vets in the next day or so if it does not heal, but have others had or experienced this?

I do not think he has broken anything but would welcome any advice, hints tips. Crying or Very sad

I'd just and rest him (as well as a can for a 5mnth old) and hopefully after a day or so you should see an improvement, silly billy's!

very easy to get little injuries as pups , Tilly hurt herself in the car when she was about 10-11 weeks and we still don't know how. They do have quite a high pain threshold and she is only little , I would just get the vet to check her out tomorrow , he will probably give her som anti inflammatories , sounds like she has just landed and twisted her leg or something but as a baby better safe than sorry

Agreed. Pups are always twisting their legs. He could have pulled a muscle or twisted something. If she's still in pain tomorrow, a quick trip to the vets would clear up any worries.

Usually, they'll forget all about it in a few hours. Smile

Nothing off the shelf is gonna help.

He's only 5mths old - I reckon pop him to the vet, he could have strained it, twisted it, popped his kneecap out of place, anything, dont take the risk if he's no better xx

Hi , i would take him along to the vets , it may be something and nothing but on the other-hand it could be a cruciate or patella problem.
