Maybe it was a combo of a wave hitting at the same time as the fish pulled. I don't know the answer hoping you do, when they get big fish like that do they keep them? I'm not a fan of fishing but really hate big fishing lol

It could have been a combination of a wave and the fish pulling but I've never been close to sinking before and have been on boats that have caught alot of big fish. Whether or not the fish are kept or caught and released really depends on who is fishing. Tourists and commercial boats usually keep the fish but most of the people who do it for "sport" are catch and release.

A famous quote sprang to mind then "We're Gonna Need a Bigger Boat" That's mad that, Where was Robson Greene then with his extreme fishing? I have never fished so i can only ask daft questions Blushing but" does reeling the fish in usually affect the boat?

Depending on the size of the fish and the size of the boat yes. A fish that size could certainly capsize a small boat but the one in the story is medium sized so it shouldn't happen. Usually the fish will make a run and the captain will simply follow it with the boat so the fish will get tired and not break the line.

So in you opinion what would do you think the breaking strain of line they would of been using for that to happen?

Really up to the angler but somewhere in in 120-200 pounds is normal for that type of fishing. The line won't normally break unless it is taunt and than more stress is applied. The higher the breaking point is the less line you can fit on the reel which also leads to the fish getting away.
