Re: Just been neutered
Bless him, yes its just the anesthetic. They tend to sleep it off. Try him on some cooked chicken later on, or hopefully the vet may have given you a recovery pack, its just chicken/rice dog food. Xx

Re: Just been neutered
Honestly it will be the anesthetic, Moo doesn't do well on them, well she has been under 1 other since she was neutered the other month and she was a mess for 24hrs, crying, shaking, he will go to sleep soon but just comfort him for now, he'll be ok tomorrow and you'll be the ones fretting to keep him quiet Xx

Re: Just been neutered
Hi matt, thanks, they couldnt sort out his foreskin so he may need plastic surgery

Re: Just been neutered
It's the anaesthetic, definitely. They get very confused & sorry for themselves. Let him have a good night sleep & he' LL be much better in the morning.

Re: Just been neutered
Yeah they said leave it a few weeks to see if the castration helps but if not i will have to, i cant leave it like that for him

Re: Just been neutered
Good for you! I'm hoping the castration helps. But if not it'll be great to see the wee man all sorted.

Re: Just been neutered
Cheeky thing!
I wouldn't have thought he'd be able to reach them with one of those on, though?

He'll probably sleep well tonight, though. By tomorrow they won't be bothering him too much anyway!

Re: Just been neutered
I'm sure the vet will have checked that he can't hurt himself. Just keep an eye on him and give him extra love and care for the next 24 hours and he will be fine.
I had a female dog before logan and I had her spayed. It was my first time and I genuinely thought "I've broke my dog" because she was so limp and lifeless. But a day later she was back to normal

Re: Just been neutered
Then your main concern is trying to keep them quiet for a few days.....good luck with that!

Re: Just been neutered
Hell be fine in no time. When my boy was done he howled so much the vets asked me to pick him up early, he was all over me when i picked him up and as soon as we got through the door he was out like a light. He still tried to follow me wherever i went in the house and was shakwy and confused poor fella. I ended up spending an hour on the stairs whith him just to give him comfort. He was done in the morning but was whining for a walk at 11pm and i know i shouldnt have but took him for a 10 min stroll around block after whuch he slept whole night and was back to his old self next morning like nothing had happend

Re: Just been neutered
Hi Everyone!
Well the first night he was back he whined and cried for an hour and half when we went to bed (I felt awful but I wanted to see if he calmed himself down) but I couldnt bear it any longer so went and picked him up and he got into bed with me, he was out like a light then!!
The next day he was back to his happy self! yay!
Just been back to the vets today for his check up today and all is looking well, I asked about the plastic surgery and he said it could cost around £400 (gulp) but my baby is worth it. They said to leave it a few weeks to see if the castration helps but its not looking likely! So looks like more surgery it is! I will have another whiney boy again after some more anaesthetic lol!

That's great news. I'm glad he is back to his normal self. I've gave in and allowed Logan in many times, he now is a permanent resident in my bed haha!
Good for you in going ahead with the surgery to help him, I agree that they are worth every penny.

Re: Just been neutered
Haha I was very tempted to let him in with me the next night but as he is not toilet trained yet I didnt want to risk waking up to anything on my bed! He did hold it all night when he did come in with me but I wasnt sure if he was just shattered from the surgery and couldnt be bothered to move! It was lovely though, he even got under the quilt with me he loved it haha

He's a rescue dog & part of the adoption agreement is neutering.

Re: Just been neutered
Another reason i wanted to is to see if it would calm him down a bit. I know thia doesnt always help but i also heard it could cause health problems if they arent neutered (i dont know how true this is)
