thought id just introduce myself & say hello instead of having a rant

thought id just introduce myself
i am visually impaired with about 40% vision left in both eyes
& i am a cake decorator & i love what i do noting gives me more pleasure to see
someone very happy with a cake i have made for them it gives me a great sense of
happiness to know they like what i have made for them i have been a cake decorator
for 10 years now & have loved every minute of it
i am married to tony & have 4 wonderful children
i have 4 dogs ; 3 basset hounds June , Jenny , Gorge
bassets can be challenging to
say the least they are not your normal every day dog my advice to any one
taking on any dog please do your research on the breed of dog you are thinking
about having so many people take a dog on then realise that they can't cope with
it it pays to take your time when choosing a dog
& i have 2 retired guide dogs Ramble & Fern ramble was my 1st guide dog & she
retired at 3 1/2 years old due to a vicious dog attack wit some thugs set their APB
on her for fun i don't blame the dog i blame the owners i had only had her 1 1/2 years
when she retired
& fern has just retired in September 2010 at 8 1/2 years old witch is normal for a
guide dog
my youngest son has a dog called Maisie we are not relay sure what she is she is crossed
with something we know she has staffy in her but what else we've no idea she is a timid girl
it took her a good year to get used to use all but she loves my son to pieces & he loves her the same
any way that's all about me sorry to babble on just letting you know me a
little i don't mind peoples opinion but sometimes there's a limit to the things you
should & shouldn't say

Sounds like you have your hands full with some lovely family (furred and non furred) Sorry to hear about your girl some people can be so horrid

thank you for all your lovely comments when ramble was attacked i found things
quite hard to handle i hated any type of staffy pit bull or type dog
until i went for training with my second guide dog Fern & Ian my guide dog trainer
knew how i felt & knew that i needed to put this to rest in my head
so he took me to see a homeless guy that lived on the streets that owned the
most cutest staffy i have ever seen he had explained how i felt to this guy
previously & asked if he would help me overcome my fear of these type of dogs
because that's what it was , it was pure fear of my guide dog being attacked
again & after seeing this lovely little staffy i started to think different about them
although i'm still a little untrusting towards pitts i can't help it i wish i didn't
feel like that but i'm afraid i do.
& over the years ive come to realise that it wasn't the dogs fault for this
unfortunate thing that happened it was the damned right stupid people that
owned the dog these types of dogs can be fabulous dogs in the right knowledgeable
hands not with someone who thinks it make them look hard & tough i relay
loath these sort of people as its them that have given these dogs the bad name
that they have today i have seen so many great natured staffys & types
& its all to do with the upbringing & how they are treated
it breaks my heart every time i see them in the dog pounds because they don't
deserve to be there , they didn't ask to be born the least people could do
when taking on these dogs is to stick through the bad times as well as the good
having 3 basset hounds can be a little trying to say the least sometimes but
they are my babies & i love them to pieces & i do Ramble & Fern
i love them all the same anyway i'm going on hope i haven't offended
anyone with what i have said with me what you see is what you get i say it how
it is & i hope that doesn't offend its not meant to

I am so pleased your negative feelings towards the stafford has been altered, and as you say it's the owner not the dog, my opinion was changed because 10 months ago my son said he wanted one, so i started researching and like you my opinion was swayed, but mine by the staffy lovers on this forum and the different links to information they provided. I have really enjoyed reading your posts and look forward to many more, but i am sorry to say i have affectionatley changed your name when i read your posts to me you are simply the mad woman

i don't know hoe i would be without them to be honest & they all play with each other
if your not playing with them apart from fern & ramble they prefer their warm cosy bed to playing
& the bassets respect that
