Re: OMG over priced!
i'm so lost doing it myself, i think i'm going to need some help. i hope my friend katarina can help, she is good with these things... but.. WHO pays 20'000 USD to have their dog exsported?
my plane ticket home will cost under 1000 AUD and i only have 5000 AUD to get both me and romeo home so i have about 4000AUD to spend on romeos relocation

Re: OMG over priced!
Can you contact the airline direct and ask them to explain the protocol?

This is for quantas as you seem to be pricing it in Austrailian dollars. You will have to buy a suitable crate and going by the above page Romeo will have to be in the large catagory.
Phone airline, book tickets, get cage/crate, arrive at airport with Romeo in said cage and Fly.
You will have to find out about quarantine at your destination. As you will have to pay for this as you would kennel fees.

Re: OMG over priced!
That is expensive. I paid about $3,000 US dollars to go from Virginia to Korea and that included a stop over in Amsterdam and a week of boarding. The best option may be to call the customs office of the airport you are flying into directly. Normally they will give you all the paperwork you need and let you e-mail it back ahead of time to make sure everything is good to go.

Re: OMG over priced!
yeah, mostly i'm looking for a company to help with with the paper work on this side... cause its horrible stuff
Re: OMG over priced!
I didn't use an agency when I moved to Japan. I called the customs office over here and they helped walk me through the paperwork. Took a few days of e-mails and phone calls but saved some money and I had the peace of mind to know that everything was okay before I got on the plane.

Re: OMG over priced!
Google is your friend at times like this, obviously a company is going to make a profit out of you so it's going to be cheaper to do it yourself.
It sometimes seems daunting initially but when you put your mind to it it can be quite straight forward.

I think the only thing you need a vet for is a health certificate within 10 days of flying. The FAVN or rabies test simply measures the level of rabies antibodies in the blood so it's simply taking a sample and sending it to a lab which any vet should be able to do

Re: OMG over priced!
to go to australia the test must be carried out by a goverment vet, and he needs health checks by an goverment approved vet.. i cant have the same person do both things, and then a DAFF approved lab... i'm like... gezzze. even my local vet here in the city didnt know where i would need to go
Re: OMG over priced!
Is he crate trained? Just a thought you might want to start getting him used to being locked in it. It will be a long flight and very stressful if he's not used to it.
Good luck x
