Stereotype
While out in Jollies pet superstore today with Alfie in our arms we got lots of oh look at that puppy which was really nice. While at the checkout 2 old dears looked over and said the same and the wife and I smiled and said thank you. On the way out the store the 2 old dears followed us out saying the same thing again so I stopped and turned for them to say hello properly. While making a fuss of Alfie they asked his age and how long we have had him. Then the question that changed everything. "what breed is he"? He is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier I replied, upon my reply both stopped making a fuss of him and took a step back. I looked at then moth with a WTF look on my face and all I got was the back of there heads as they walled away.
It really grind's my gears when even the older people do things like this.

Re: Stereotype
It is so disappointing when we receive this kind of reaction from people who are old enough to know better. They are missing out on all the fun, it's their loss.

Re: Stereotype
rude, that never happened to us normally people say ''Oh he's a lovely staffy and start stroking him'' if it did happen to us I'd say ''Why you walking away? He doesn't bite''

Re: Stereotype
He was a lovely puppy until they found out his breed, then suddenly he became vicious idiots. I've met a few old people with Staffs or their kids with Staffs and they're all so friendly and talking about how it's OK he's jumping because Staffs are all mad. I'm very lucky.

Re: Stereotype
It was just mind blowing. They were both all cooie before they knew the breed. Alfie made up for it next when we went to pets at home. we were in there for over half an hour as it was like a petting zoo and he was the only pet in there Only down side was the wife was holding him meaning I was left to roam costing me £40

Re: Stereotype
I Still get it with mine, convo usually goes along lines of what "breed" are they and then they gues at a few exotic breeds. Im no, no, nope they are staff cross huskies to which 9 times out of 10 they whip there hands away and give some kind of comment like "i bet they are a handfull" one person asked me once if they are safe...thats after 5 mins of fussing them -.- there are some right proper divs about. I think my skin has grown thick to it, when im siiting on the sofa with two sweethearts snuggled tight into me i have a giggle at there ignorance. If only they could see us now :0)

Re: Stereotype
If somebody is afraid of uber-cute Alfie they need serious help
But I have experienced that myself too, don't worry about it. If they can't tell the breed they most likely don't know enough to make a judgement. I have sometimes just said Logan was "a wee black dog" to avoid agro.
