Re: HI!! from me ace and diesel :)
It can do. Siblings will notoriously fight! You'll need to put in a lot of training. Most good breeders won't let siblings go together.

Re: HI!! from me ace and diesel :)
i blame the wife!....i work 200 miles away from home through the week so we tend to only be together on weekends with both dogs....diesel is mine and ace is the better halfs....they will be trained seperately but spend most weekends together

hi and welcome.. yeah siblings can be problems . two males especially..

Re: HI!! from me ace and diesel :)
i guess the breeder didnt point out that part... as i say we live seperately just now so hopefully they should both be trained well enough to get along when our house is ready,i had a friend that had 2 females from the same litter and although they fought at first within a few months they settled down and were absolutely perfect together is this possible with 2 males?

Re: HI!! from me ace and diesel :)
It's certainly possible, just be aware that it could be difficult. As yours are mainly apart, it should be a bit easier!

Re: HI!! from me ace and diesel :)
thanks!...originally planned on just the one but the wife fell in love with ace,and diesel was the one we had chosen at 5 weeks....would it be an idea to return ace and pay extra for a female...of course we intend to get both dogs "done" when they reach the required age

Re: HI!! from me ace and diesel :)
Hello and welcome from me and the kids
Sorry we don't mean to frighten you , but ultimately the golden rules (and these are not rules that can't be broken) to maximise the chances of success with 2 dogs together (whatever the breed) is
1) No siblings
2) Different sexes (this goes out of the window of course when you go to 3 )
3) maintain a decent age gap between them (18months -2 years minimum)
We have many members on here that don't fit these categories and have much success , it's just the pointers on where the problems can be. And that would normally be what we would advise if you came and asked the question first . You've already done the deed so it's a different situation.
Do you really think you could take one back without tugging badly on your heartstrings , I know I couldn't As far as going back and getting a female I wouldn't recommend it , this is about the sibling thing now and not the same sexes , when my boy met his litter sister after a few months they wanted to kill each other half the time so I don't think the male / male or male/female really applies that much at the moment .
I am not sure about the separation myself as this doesn't give them the opportunity to keep up the bond they had in the litter and could distance themselves so it could be a negative , how long do you expect it to last for ??
As everyone else says the main key is training and never leave them alone together for long periods without supervision, but this is really good practice for anyone with 2 dogs as it is so easy for them to have a spat that escalates (as my 2 do on occasions)

Good lord, no, don't send one back! All I meant was you'll need to be firm but fair!

Hi and welcome from me and tyke, good luck am sure you will both work it out and the separation may help. My parents had two boys from the same litter (black labs) and they got on perfect but this is first i knew about the above.

Re: HI!! from me ace and diesel :)
My little staff Tommy, 16 weeks, met his brother yesterday for the first time since he was 7 and a half weeks old. As soon as they saw each other the growling, snarling and barking started. I didn't even let him off his lead. Sibling rivalry. Hope your 2 get on but you might have a bit of hard work ahead. Good luck

Re: HI!! from me ace and diesel :)
Hi everyone! Thanks for such a warm welcome....as I explained myself and my wife picked up our 2 boys last weekend and have now had them seperatly for 5 days,I work 200 miles away in crawley and my partner lives in derby...anyway update the boys are settling in like they have been here all along, and no despite me asking about returning one I don't think my heart would allow it I guess I got a bit spooked as I've never had staffys before....I'm a little jealous if I'm honest as my wifes pup (ACE) is fully paper trained and hasn't had a single accident on the floor while mine (DIESEL) seems to be doing his buisness as and where he choses...round one to the wife it seems! I shall try my best to upload some pictures this weekend as its been kinda full on and we haven't took any yet again thankyou for the welcome and any hints or tips for a first timer are much appreciated

Re: HI!! from me ace and diesel :)
hi guys quick message had a few problems this weekend as our daughter was rushed to hospital after a seizure....sadly it meant diesel was left in crawley while ace got time with both of us.quick question as im slightly worried,ACE seems to be very skinny at the back end to the point where we can feel (not see) his bones,we were told by the breeder that she had wormed him to date only for us to collect them just after 9 weeks and see otherwise,my wife was feeding ace 2 days ago and noticed worms at his back end...would explain diesel constantly being hungry..and ace feeling pain after a meal...please tell me this is normal after the weekend ive had i cant face the thought of our boys being very sick too, they are booked in at the vets next weekend for 1st jab so would kinda like to know so i can mention it on our visit thanks in advance wozza

Re: HI!! from me ace and diesel :)
forgot to mention that ace was officially labelled as the "runt" of the litter...i myself see that as meaning the less willing to fight for food...hope this is the reason as he seems healthy in every other way

hi, just had a quick look at previous posts with regards to worms, i think they may be coming out if there in his poo, but me personal with him been so teeny i would may get an early slot at the vets i wouldn't be really worried but i would take precaution the vet will advise and medicate. how do you mean ace feeling pain? were and how does he react? Am really sorry about your daughter i hope she is making a good recovery can sympathize with poorly children and hospitals.

Welcome from me and Pixee. Sorry to hear about your daughter. I would suggest a trip to the vets for Ace to be on the safe side. Let us know how it goes.
