A little terror.
Well Bruno woke up at 7pm or around that and he has only gone to sleep now, after launching himself at me all night, eating my hair, getting stuck in corners, licking everything in his path, jumping all over me I am now relieved he is asleep, it's been a long night lol somebody said this goes on for 2 years? Please say it will get better as he thinks I'm some kind of trampoline to bounce on and off lol will it get better once he can be walked?

Re: A little terror.
All the Staff owners I've met either say they calm down when they grow up...or they never calm down . He hasn't been on walks yet, has he? He'll get more into a routine when he's going on walks. At the moment he's probably just full of so much energy, when he starts going out he'll be exhausted from the excitement

Don't worry, just when you think you'll never have a life again, they will get better. I felt like Bacon drained me of all my patience, LITERALLY ALL OF IT!!! At that moment he got better.
I wouldn't say the walks will help out so much, but they certainly won't hurt. More like an age thing. I'd say it starts getting better around six months or so. That was my experience.
So far since owning my first Staff Pup - I'd say they are more work than your average dog, but the rewards are better as well when they do start listening!!! Good luck with Puppydom.

The walks will help with the energy levels. In the meantime training sessions and mental games will help with mental energy levels

I think crating during the night is good as they get their peace and you will too

Re: A little terror.
Someone told me Staffords don't 'grow up' until they are about 6 years old!

What's the bit about getting stuck in corners , don't understand that one

Re: A little terror.
Crating is definitely the way to go. Never had a sleepless night apart from when he was tiny and I used to get up at 3am to toilet him. ( my choice not his) He's 6 mths now and happily not a morning person, I normally have to coax him out of bed in the morning.

Re: A little terror.
Thanks all, I guess each dog is different then, he's asleeep now after he was told of for snapping, I don't smack but he went in a sulk after I told him a stern NO lol the reason that I have not put him in the crate as much as it is very cold in there and that's with 3 throw covers and a bed but I will use it more when the weather pics up.
I mean he gets caught between the sofa and the wall or under the table when I said he gets stuck in corners lol he is getting very nosey.

Re: A little terror.
Bacchus's crate is in the conservatory and if it gets really cold I have a low cost convection heater which I put on at a low temperature just to take the chill off. He has never slept anywhere but his crate mind you.

Re: A little terror.
Oh my b.f home only has a fire which does not heat the whole room so Bruno sleeps on the sofa, it is not my plan to use it over night it's really for when we need sleep or have to pop out, so at the moment it's not being used cause of the cold.

Re: A little terror.
between 5 and 6 months it gets better, slightly better when you can walk them. The crate is brilliant, tash was in it from day one and sleeps all night

Re: A little terror.
Oh gosh, I have a battle on my hands, I won't mind as long as he learns that biting and snapping is wrong and soon, working on that now.
