What I find strange is that butchers in the UK aren't allowed to sell horse meat for human consumption, and yet it can be burgers?

I dont eat them though, horses or burgers from tesco, only burgers I eat are those I have made myself from minced beef.

Horse meat can't be sold because it is usually full of injections that a horse gets throughout its life before its sent to the knackers yard. All injections are to be recorded like a dogs get, but most people don't bother to record them (most horses don't even have passports) and vets dont mind that, they get £20 in their pocket and do't have to sign anything to say the horse cant be eaten. Then it is for the dog food chain. Some are of a decent enough quality to get killed for europe but mostly they are sent to europe to be killed there. So basically the horse meat in burgers is from bad slaughthouse hygiene cause the meat for dog and cat food is killed in the same place.

It's on at least one menu in Scotland. Was listening to a restauranteur on the radio today who's been selling it for a while.
