Re: Crate.
Have you tried covering the crate with a blanket and making it more into a den with a window at the front? That's what we did with Molly and she was much happier
So cute!

Re: Crate.
I know this may sound daft but have you got a water bowl in there for him? We got a fantastic one that hooks onto the bars of the crate so that it can't be knocked over!

Re: Crate.
I had that cage for Loki ...but then he outgrew it
Ideally though, you want to get him used to it. If he doesn't like it, don't force him into it, and don't shut the door on him until he's comfortable being in there. It's his bed and his place to relax and do his own thing, so you want him to enjoy being in there, so take it slowly if he's not comfortable with it.

Re: Crate.
Try hiding a few treats in his bed for him to discover. Worked for us, Bacchus couldn't wait to get in to see what he would find.

Re: Crate.
To late for that i just put him in for about ten minutes at a time and close the door and feed him a treat while hes in there, i will try it your way from now on but i don't reckon he will be willing to go in though.

Re: Crate.
You were right getting a big crate. Logan looked like a wee mite in his when I first got it but within a few months he was hitting his head of the roof. Try covering the top with blankets and leaving the door open a bit. I wouldn't bother with a water bowl in the crate, it's likely to just get knocked over and he should only really be in there for a few hours at a time at the start anyway.
Either way he should take to it soon. Logan cried the house down when he first started using it.

Re: Crate.
Crating is going OK, he's been to the toilet in there a few times though, I hope he don't get that big he reaches the top of the crate as an adult, I think that would happen with a lab or collie, this crate is huge.

No I think you'll be ok that way, he shouldn't get that tall. My crate just isn't tall enough in general lol!

If I were you I'd leave it covered all the time. That'll make it feel safe & cosy and he'll be more likely to go in it on his own. If he does go in there don't touch him or praise him - just leave him be. It'll become his safe haven!

Re: Crate.
I need to get some more throw covers as it,s pretty cold in there at the moment thanks to the weather.....I reckon as soon as he can start his walks he will appreciate his crate more.
Thanks he is a sweetie.
