Doesn't talk much?
Hi all,
Most staffies I've known have all been quite talkative and I don't mean barking, yapping or whining, just those strange noises they make like they're actually having a chat.
Is this something that comes with age, or like us are some just more talkative than others

Re: Doesn't talk much?
Moo was very quiet when I got her (even though she had been given back because she made strange noises!)
I must say her vocabulary has grown greatly! Never unwanted and always very amusing.

Re: Doesn't talk much?
Here in the UK during the 1970's the BBC came out with a character called Charlie, a "talking" cat. Charlie appeared in public information films about various things for children to be aware of: Don't talk to strangers, dont get in anyone's car who you dont know etc.
Charlie would make this sound just like Rocky does when he starts talking. I'm sure he must have auditioned for the part of Charlie.

Yes, Kathy, that's exactly the sounds I'm talking about! I love to hear them talk and have been showing Zoey how it's done. Hope the neighbours haven't been listening!

I think it's a common Staff trait but it just depends on the individual dog. Loki makes a range of noises, it's like he's imitating every animal in the world but only when he wants attention. The only noise he makes when playing is growling.
