My Favourite Place in all the World
I know it would bore the pants off the vast majority of you, but I love this place - so calm, tranquil & peaceful......
We go there about twice a year to visit the monks there - a couple are really good friends - and it helps to clear all the world's dross from your head!

Throw in a bar and a paddling pool, and some sun and I'm there

Sorry, Janey - the bell goes at 3.15am & it's lights out at 8pm. No alcohol. No pool. Just peace.

It's Mount Saint Bernard's Abbey, Coalville, Leicester. My oh got to know them many, many years ago & took me there when the kids were very young - still in a pushchair. We've stayed in the guest house quite a few times (kids as well) for a couple of nights. Wonderful way to put the world into perspective!

Ah Caryll, it's so great to have a place you can escape to that restores one's spirit.
Mine is a little place near Lyme Regis (Dorset) - it's like stepping back in time. Haven't been able to get there for 3 years though.

It's Pinewood Park, Rousdon. In the middle of nowhere, but short distance to Lyme Regis one way and Beer the other - both lovely old-world places.
Unfortunately, they won't take dogs anymore, so ....

Nope.
Mind you, I won't even go to a local pub if they do karaoke!

Re: My Favourite Place in all the World
Maybe. Maybe not.
It's surprising how quickly the 'feel' of the place seeps into you. I grant you, it wouldn't be good for you to stay there for more than a night or two - but who knows, it may do you the power of good.
BIG downside, though..........Moo couldn't go.

Wouldn't do for us all to be the same would it.
Mind you Janey, I do like a bit of karaoke - my voice is spectacular - Well so I believe, although Simon Cowell hasn't signed me up yet
But no karaoke at my "favourite place", that's another place altogether. Except that Kuchar can't go there, and nor would Moo.

Re: My Favourite Place in all the World
Mine is that bad I know it is no matter how smashed I am. Comes to something when I can't even sound good to myself even when I so drunk I can hardly walk

Yeah funny how it happens isn't it, I don't quite understand it - more beer, better voice - works every time though

I can't pin point my favorite place.
I know that i cried for like 2 weeks when i left america, but now i hate it (no offence to my american comrades!)
i think its london. i really love london. only the posh part though, obviously.

Re: My Favourite Place in all the World
I'm with Janey , if they decide to accept dogs , install a bar I might think about it though , and for the record , surely Karaoke is long time dead now
