Gas consumption down - oh yes.
Just did my meter reading for winter - gas consumption down 24.7% compared with the exact same period last year.
Electricity use is down, too.
Account has ended up nearly 70 quid in credit.
Oh, yes..... that's 4 extra bottles of Jack Daniels.

JD is great for making you forget the cold.
I can't feel the cold on JD.
In fact, after half a bottle, I can't feel anything.

It's not as cold outside this year.
Less temperature difference means less heat convection/radiation through the walls.
I'll put the differential equations up if you're thoroughly bored.

Shop around.
Yesterday, I got my house insurance renewal quote, which was up 30 quid on last year.
So I did an online comparison and the insurer that quoted me +30 by letter was quoting me minus 90 by internet.
So I phoned the renewals line and told them. And they said they couldn't do it for that as this was the renewals line.
So I hung up and phoned the general line - and got it for 91 quid less in the end.
Insurance companies will rip you a new one if you let them.
