Over night 'blip'?!
Luna has been a darling so far ...
The first 3 nights she did the expected crying thing (partly due to one night my hubby not locking her crate properly on her 2nd night so she had free run of the house and so there wasn't any consistency .. but I digress ).
Since then she’s been good as gold ... gone into her crate voluntarily and although not clean over night (obviously) she’s been happy being left, all be it with visible company of Amber (our patterdale).
However last night I woke needing a drink and when I came down stairs she spotted me. Although I didn’t interact with her she cried/barked/howled the rest of the night. (back to square one )
Needless to say this morning I had a very sulky hubby and a very tired puppy!
So the question is ... how would I stop this happening again?
I have no way of stopping her from seeing me (or anyone) if we come downstairs at night (it’s all open plan).
Am I going to have this occur whenever she is disturbed or is it a puppy thing and she’ll grow out of it?
A blip I can handle, but I don’t want to be having to hide from her so she doesn’t have anxiety over night ...
Help
(please)

You can get a cover or blanket for the cage to put over it at night. She may still awaken with the light (if you don't have a nightlight downstairs), but she will not specifically see you with the cage cover.

Re: Over night 'blip'?!
I considered that but think she might have settled easier/quicker because she can still see our other dog so am reluctant to obstruct her view IYKWIM?
She's due to be going out for walks at the weekend so maybe then she'll be tired enough to sleep through the night?

Going for walks will make the world of difference! I would agree though a cover over the crate may help, you can still leave one side open to be able to see. Its all normal, and won't last forever Xx
