Canicross gear? Empty Canicross gear?

Post by starling89 Tue Jan 01 2013, 08:51

I'm tempted to join the local sled dog club with Henry! He has sooo much energy that I've bought a harness for him and have taught him to pull me on a scooter and he just loves it! I'm thinking of starting off doing Canicross with Henry - but the gear is so expensive! Does anyone know how to make your own canicross belt? Or know where to get one thats not too expensive?

Henry's one of these dogs that just keeps on going no matter what so I think he will enjoy it! I've had a quick search but didnt come across anything cheap enough. If I found a pattern or instructions to make one of my own though I would.

After a couple of hours searching I finally found the cheapest way to get a canicross belt. Its not exactly the fancy belts you see for sale but its a hands-free running leash that should do the trick Smile

I some times run a bit with Lily, she had a Halti training lead which has a lower d ring on it. I just clip it around my waist. Sometimes I do this when I want both arms free. Cost u about £7/8. Big Grin

You can make your own basic little cart to see how he takes to it and to train him, and maybe save up for a good one?

Sounds fun!

My two have the police style leads and when i want to do hands free walking or jogging i attach the second lead clip to a loose ring and put it around my waist
Not that we dfo much jogging as they tend to run by my feet and not in front (ive nearly been on my bottom a few times lol)
