What scares you?
Following on from the ghosts thread, what scares you?
I can honestly say the only thing I'm aware of is heights - and it's a paralyzing fear - more than half a dozen rungs up a ladder and I am frozen stiff and sweating.
What are your fears?

this is the mantra I have used through bouts of depression, and it DOES help.
But my ultimate fear? Losing my sanity.

Re: What scares you?
Needles. I'm not scared of the sight of them, I'm not scared of blood and I'm not scared of the pain. It's a completely illogical fear because I used to have them all the time till I was 11 and it's left me terrified of them

Re: What scares you?
Nothing really. I used to be terrified of the water but than I became a lifeguard and avid scuba diver.
I am a bit uncomfortable with large crowds and narrow streets so I try to avoid them if possible

But you'll never know if you loose your sanity, because if you've lost it, you can't imagine what it was that you lost Xx

I can't walk over glass floors or man holes etc, I'm terrified of falling. I hate falling so much. Lol

Re: What scares you?
Did you see that loo that was built on top of an old mine shaft with a glass floor surrounding it?
Was in the papers a while back.
Basically, you were on the throne a couple of hundred feet above the bottom of a giant well and could see all the way down.
Made me feel giddy just looking at the picture.
Ooh, and those nutters who walk round a rope bridge built onto the side of a mountain, about 10,000 feet up in China.
Raving nutters.

Well I hope you're right Janey. I have just seen people (thank the Lord not in my own family) who in the grip of Alzheimers are VERY scared, confused and miserable and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. And that is MY fear.
Heavy stuff over!

Re: What scares you?
Heights as well but my biggie is needles...i had a motorbike accident years ago and was bustup pretty bad but they had to hold me down to jab my *. I can honestly say the only pain i can remember was that flipping needle going in... I would love to give blood but until they are allowed to get it by punching me on the nose and holding a bowl under it...
Marley shares my cowardness with heights too, we both crawled over a bridge over a dual carrageway once

yes standing on top of a cliff IS scary, it almost seems to be pulling you over doesn't it and I don't know why that is. Good job you threw yourself to the floor. I won't go near a cliff top now unless there is a STRONG rail between me and the abyss. Know our limitations!

Re: What scares you?
So sorry to hear of your motorbike accident Nathan.
Needles going in can be painful (depends if they hit a nerve of not) - I just stare at the wall and hope for the best.
They now say" a little scratch" which it is obviously more than a little scratch but nothing that we quantum physists can't endure, but do you remember what they used to say? "a little *"? Wonder why they stopped saying that.

Re: What scares you?
Ella, I envy you more than ever now. Every May and September when these UGLY SCUTTLING HORENDOUS MONSTERS zoom unexpectedly across my floors and up my walls and curtains (where have they come from, where the hell do they think they are going, why are they so EEEUUGH SO HORRIBLE) I die a thousand deaths. Sweet fluffy little things? EEEEE - how can you love them?

I used to be scared of spiders, but one must have laid eggs in my room a few years back or something, cos there were LOADS of them all the time. So I got used to them eventually. I was sad to see them go . That said, I hate daddy long legs. I remember leaning on a window, turned around and there were dozens of them. Mating season or just a friendly gathering, I suppose.

Re: What scares you?
Isnt it weird how differantly ppl are wired .. how so many can be paralised by the fear of heights, and others (like me ) actively seek that thrill .. very strange!
If I'm honest, I cant really think of anything that actually scares me ... though the thought of dieing is prob the closest thing I can think of .. which is in itself kinda weird bareing in mind some of the things I get upto in the name of enjoyment
.... oh, and being jammed solid in a pot hole under metres of rock (so I guess that counts as one )

Yep, that was the one.
Imagine busting through that glass and free-falling with a throne attached to your rear.
