Re: Road testing the dogs new coats Pic Heavy !!
Great photos there Dave, well done.
What coats are they please?
I have two coats for Ella, a 'fishing' one (I'm a carp angler) & a 'going out' coat.
They're fine for general walks, but when she's out on a 'yomp' as they say in these parts; she could do with something a little better fastening as the velcro comes undone frequently.
I'd appreciate a link if you have one please?
Regards,
Nick

They are Danish Design 2 in 1 coats and very happy with the quality, bought the first ones from Amazon (16") but had to send back as too small so found this site seemed to be the best price I could find for the 18" and they have the full range of sizes and colours

Pretty happy with them both , they have elastic in the back as well to go round the legs and keep the sides down, think 18 inches might be a bit big for dukey boy though

Re: Road testing the dogs new coats Pic Heavy !!
Know the feeling , 16" was a little tight /short on Tilly so knew 18 would be good for both of them AND when Tommy grows out of his it will still fit Tilly Wasn't so long ago that Tommy was wearing Tilly hand me down collars and coats

They seem to be fine , only worn them twice as the weather has picked up a bit for the moment so I don't want to cook them

Great photos Dave.
What's the chest measurement like on those coats? I'd love to get one for Dempsey but he has a 90cm chest & most coats don't fit him!

Re: Road testing the dogs new coats Pic Heavy !!
where do you want me to measure just the coat part ?? They are renowned to having complaints about being too big in the chest for most dogs , that's why I got them for ours

Re: Road testing the dogs new coats Pic Heavy !!
The problem I have with Demps is that if I buy a coat to fit his back length, it won't do up round his chest. If I buy for his chest measurement then it's too long in the back & the strap tends to do up right in front of his willy & it rubs!
I think Dempsey's about 21" from neck to tail, if I remember rightly, so about 3" longer than your coats? So I would expect that the strap for a 21" coat would also be about 3" - 6" longer. How long is the belly strap for yours?

Re: Road testing the dogs new coats Pic Heavy !!
so I got the 18" coats, they measure 48cm from the base of the neck (hole for lead not including collar to the end), the width is uniform 50cm all the way down and the chest strap is 80cm , so prob 70cm to allow for an amount of velcro for good closure , I would assume that the bigger coats have a biiger chest , you could always email them and ask
The length of the belly strap from the front of the legs is 26.5 cm

Yes, I might email them & ask. I'd probably need the chest strap to be about 110cm or so.

Just heard back from them. The largest coat wouldn't fit Dempsey round the middle - his chest's too bloody big!

Oh dear , you'll have to go hand made then , sure there will be someone on Ebay can sort you out , 90 cm is huge when you get the tape measure out

He's got a coat that fits his chest, but it overhangs his tail by about 6" - bloody nuisance when he wants a poo!
