im a failure
Maybe i'll just not drink 3 times in the one week anymore. Down to once a week, hows that for compromise!

Well, you don't have to drink, or you can set yourself a limit...or you can just drink however much you want and deal with the hangover from Hell tomorrow

Re: dilemma
Ah Hayley, you're not a failure! Cheer up lass
It's christmas time and it would be a shame to turn down socialising opportunities because of fear of the demon drink. You can always jump on the wagon after Christmas/New year! and there are always non-alcholic drinks you can take, especially pretend lagers that taste almost like the real thing.
Unless, to get heavy for a moment, you doubt your capacity to stop drinking at a reasonable level and it is getting out of control, especially if you do things your sober self would not do, like driving. And then, the next morning, in spite of the hangover (and if you don't have a hangover after a heavy night, that is a warning sign) you want to keep drinking.
My son is a long-standing alcoholic, so I know whereof I speak.
I sense a touch of worry, despite the jokes, but please forgive me if I am getting inapproriately heavy here. and incidentally, I am by NO MEANS teetotal myself!
Oh enjoy yourself this festive time Hayley, make new friends and enjoy yourself - you're only young once.

Re: dilemma
Try drinking a glass of water for every alcoholic drink you have, your head may not be quite so bad in the morning as you will avoid the dehydration that the alcohol produces.

Re: dilemma
OK Hayley, great. You're allowed to be social at this time of year!
I apologise for getting heavy which was obviously not needed - I was just coming from a personal perspective.
ENJOY the festive season!
