my name is Anne and I'm from Germany. I came here to find other staffie lovers and to share Icy's pictures . Icy will turn one year old next month and he is a male red as you can see from my avatar picture.

Hi there Icy is gorgeous. I was just wondering about the fact you are in Germany. My husband has been posted there and we have been informed our staffie cross can't go as she is a banned breed. i'm lost, you are in germany with a staffie!!!!

Hi from me and Tilly Pleased someone asked as I thought exactly the same. It was stated somewhere before that it was Germany that first started the ban in Europe. I know I have a lot of German colleagues and as soon as we start talking Staffy , they start to frown

Reading this Steve , then Staffy's are banned !! and some "other dogs" are banned by cities
Restricted Breeds
Attacks on members of the public by certain breeds of dog have led to legislation restricting ownership of dogs deemed to be a danger to the public. The Law on Restrictions for the Introduction and Importation of Dogs (Hundeverbringungs- und einfuhrbeschränkungsgesetz HundVerbrEinfG) came into force in Germany on 1 April 2001. Certain breeds of dog considered as dangerous are no longer allowed into the country. The customs authorities enforce this law. In the main, the following breeds and their cross-breeds will be refused entry:

Pitbull Terrier
American Staffordshire Terrier
Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Bull Terrier

In addition, some other breeds are outlawed by various districts. Dog owners would be well-advised to check with their local authorities. Exceptions are sometimes made for tourists and disabled persons as long as satisfactory paperwork can be supplied to the effect that the dog is not considered of a violent nature.
