Taking Debo to work.... ( pics)
I've started a post a while ago about stopping taking Debo to work with me because my employers were afraid of him at 5-6mnths . Cus he's over friendly and their dog growls at him ( they are great pals when on the walk it only happens when they meeting first time) . and he wasn't allowed in the house as a puppy ( it's cold out there).Today my employer asked if I could stay longer tomorrow till 9.30pm cus her OH is away ,she has to work longer,so that's mean there is no one to look after the kids. I said yes in one condition-I have to bring Debo with me,because I won't leave him for nearly 8hrs. And he has to be allowed in the house. All agreed. My worry is -the kids. Debo loves kids-he always wants to be on their level to kiss them, that means jumpping . I tried to make him stop that before but failed. Help. .

If he jumps up have them turn around and ignore him. He is seeking attention and if he gets the opposite he will stop

Maby a long or energetic short walk before work will burn off some enegy and chill him out a bit more ?
Other than that, keep Debo on lead until calm. Treats for distraction and fav blanket for a safe snuggle place.

Jackieb,he always has long walks before hand but when he meets kids it's like a energy boost. Will try with the lead. Good that the kids are at school all day,so it's going to be only late afternoon.

So round 1-meeting Scout the dog-completed. When we came in the house there was lots of barking, grawling, chasing from Scout. Debo didn't care at all, just barked at her now and then(do you think that dogs can sense when other dog is like back off or will bite and when it's more like- this is my home and I'll make sure you know it) . After hard time saying hello, managed to take them for a walk on fields. What a change, best buddies. Back home, Scout went straight to her bed and Debo started exploring. Behaving nicely so far. Now round 2-meeting the boy.

I'd keep him on a lead at least until you're sure that everything's calmed down, and tell the boy to ignore Debo until he's on all four paws or sitting nicely.

Re: Taking Debo to work.... ( pics)
Will do that. Do you think it's a good idea to take Debo to school so in the car he can get use to the boy smell? Just as I'm writting I can hear grawling. Went to see what they up to. Scout's in her bed, Debo really close, sniffing her teeth while she grawls. Really?

If you think he might get over excited when the boy gets in the car, then no, I wouldn't.

Re: Taking Debo to work.... ( pics)
Didn't take him with me, took him for another long walk. On a way back told the boy what he should do.When came back put Debo on the lead, he went mental, barking, whining etc but we didn't give up. After few minutes he got bit calmer. So the boy said it would be ok to let Debo off. He was fine few half jumps. My main worry was the other dog, she got very overprotective over the boy. When Debo came close she would put herself between him and Debo and grawl. Just removed Debo from the room(don't know if did the right thing but it worke) . She calmed down as well.

And we back home....
Over all would give Debo an 8. He did pretty well,he obeyed the house rules. Didn't go upstairs,in the kitchen /dinning room he had to stay in the dinning bit. With few chicken treats he got that to, no on the sofa. I think he did really well with the no jumping on the boy. Taking on the account the other dog,who wasn't the easiest. She would grawl even when Debo pass next to her. Few times DEbo barked back like saying-I didn't even do anything back off. I think it would much easier with out her. I had to watch them all the time to make sure she won't attack.. Well, happy that the day is over. DEbo is so tired,5min after coming home he fall a sleep,so I can enjoy my cuppa.

I think he did really well! I think it's to be expected that the other dog would be protective - maybe if it was to happen more, she'd be a little easier about it all.
I think you're a bit harsh with a score of 8, though, I think Debo was a

I think you're right,it was totaly new environment for him and he did great. About the other dog,she is always like that, when we take her for a walk-4 kids and I-she's acting like shep dog,has to have the close. And maybe she could sense that the boy was a bit nervous. Good I didn't have full house today.
