Vinny's first weekend Empty Vinny's first weekend

Post by Guest Mon Nov 26 2012, 05:02

We've survived the weekend! Thanks to all the advice on here, we get up every hour to let Vinny out and by last night he was even making it to around 1.5hrs at times. He is good at letting us know when he wants out too.

He cries....a lot!! I know he is only 8 weeks and we have to wait it out. He also snorts like a piggy when he's crying Laughing

Roxy is getting used to him. She's ok with him climbing in to her bed when she's not in it and she's ok with him having a go at her toys. She does tell him to keep his distance at times and we are supervising every interaction. She has not take to him enough to comfort him yet and he seems to just want to cuddle her, but Roxy is not having it. I'm hoping its because she was used to being an only child and she is my princess Love Struck I feel so bad for her sleep being broken now...is that a bit over the top?!

Another thing, Vinny's breath stinks!! And he's only a pup. The breeder had him on Hills and I am slowly changing him over to a really top quality kibble we get here called Jock. I'm hoping this will help the breath issue because right now I cannot handle the smell even for cuddles (I know that sounds so bad Sad ) i have also brushed his teeth.

Otherwise he seems pretty confident and full of staffy energy and wonderment. He is a little chewer but we are giving him enough chew toys and have bitter spray too.

I'm just really really hoping everything works out between him and Roxy!

Are you sure its not just puppy breath? It sort of smells like meat and wet leaves! Their breath always smells till they get to about 11 - 12 weeks. BTW hes a beaut! And I'm sure they will end up getting on eventually Roxy just has to learn to share.

I do think it's just puppy breath! His teeth are fine -he's even let me brush them gently with my fingers to check. He and Roxy are getting used to each other now...in fact they have eaten and drank out of the same bowls - so no food aggression worries there. Roxy is very good at sharing - she's also very good at pinching vinny's toys. Laughing

Thanks for all the compliments and comments.

Have a look here: http://www.petproject.co.za/agents.html
Roxy was a fussy eater and we got a sample bag at WODAC earlier in the year - she loved it. I simply called the agent in Jhb and he delivered to my door the following day. Let me know how you get on Smile

he's a little treasure Love Struck Don't worry about the bonding it will all come in time. At this moment Tommy loves Tilly , and Tilly sometimes loves Tommy too and sometimes she is just happy in her own space, any rows they sort themselves out and Tommy has always been a bit of a gladiator
