Pet insurance reviews.
Hi, we got Gary in the vets when he was micro chipped and had his jabs, they gave us a free month pet insurance, but this is due to run out tomorow and we want to get him permanent insurance.
Doesn anybody on here have any reccomendations for any insurance companies? obviously we would like to keep costs down however we dont want to pay a cheap price and recieve a poor service.
so cheap but reliable would be spot on
Also if you cant recommend anybody but have had any bad experiences with anybody can you mention that aswell as my other halfs mum and dad was with Sainburys and at 10 months Max got a rash which cost approx £750 in bills which Sainsburys refused to foot the bill saying that Max must of inherrited his intollerance to wheat as a puppy.
Thanks, Dan

Re: Pet insurance reviews.
think Caryll has Sainsbury's and finds them ok (or was it John Lewis)
I'm with PAH and got a really good deal but they have changed their policies since.
Few are with Argos , I was with Direct Line and did have a claim which was paid straight away but they upped the premium this year and wanted £25 a month for Tilly , I cancelled it .
Look for lifetime illness cover, high yearly limit

Re: Pet insurance reviews.
We have insured Rocky with Argos Pet Insurance on a Lifetime policy. The premium is £15.24 per month.
We were previously with PetPlan who wanted £22.50 per month for the same cover.
With Argos we went for the Platinum Policy which should pay out £7,000 in vet fees, £2 Million in 3rd Party Liability and with £65 excess per incident.
Hope this helps.

If you go to the Health issues Forum there is a sub Forum in there called Insurance, lots of info there about all different insurance companies regarding policy cover.

Re: Pet insurance reviews.
I'm with Sainsbury's & although I've had no problem with them (in the third year with them at the moment) I'll look around next renewal because they've changed their policy. They now have an excess of £75 (no problem) but you also have to pay 10% of the total bill in addition to the £75!
If they try to renew mine like that, I'll go elsewhere.

Re: Pet insurance reviews.
Churchill pet insurance is great.
They cover very high fees and cover for extras like boarding kennels, quarantine costs should you ever need it, leaflets if the pet goes missing, and it would be insured as well if you take him abroad and need to see the vet abroad, depending which policy you take, but it isn't expensive at all.

Re: Pet insurance reviews.
Hi make sure its a 'LIFETIME' policy, and dont go for the cheapest option. There will always be a reason why it is so cheap!!!!

Re: Pet insurance reviews.
Agree with Panda, also if you take a yearly policy and God forbid you need to make a claim for Gary, the following year they wouldn't cover anything related to the problem the claim refers to and because you have to declare any claim you made, you wouldn't be able to find an insurance who would cover the area related to the claim.

Re: Pet insurance reviews.
Hi there.
We have always had our Staafys insured with Direct Line. Not sure if they are the cheapest. But on two occasions my last dog had to have a lot of xrays, radiotherapy and finally MRI scan after being refered to the Cambridge vetinery ciollege. I would have had to pay £3000 the first time and just shy of £6000 for the last lot which sadly showed my dog had a tumour on his spine and bowl. I only had to pay the £80 excess each time plus a couple of quid here and there for minor things not covered. I would, as other others have suggested go for the 'platinum' or top level cover with whoever you choose to insure your pet through.

I just hit a good time with PAH for our 2 as it was a matter of a few weeks later when they changed it , only foiund out because I was advising on a thread like this and went to their website to check my actual cover

Re: Pet insurance reviews.
I was with Sainsburys and they were prompt to pay but they doubled their premium at renewal (I guess as the new policies had the 10% of each bill clause added) I have now gone direct with AXA but can't comment on their service hopefully I wont have to find out
