We are getting Hit again!

well we are expecting the worst cyclone in Australian history...... in 12 hours there is a cyclone sitting off the coast of the Whitsundays islands.... my dad lives there and they are expecting it to cross about midnight...

He has things ready.

Bath full of ice..... beer, butter bacon and eggs...
he is bottling his home brew now so he doesnt loose this batch!!!! and the 4 x 4 is packed with a fridge full of beer, bacon and eggs... for GAWDS sake the man is a idiot!

He said it is all * and it will cross thru about 200kms above him which will be townsville..... he said he has been watching the birds and they are all flying north west... what ever the hell that means...
anyway fingers crossed he will be ok.... it is a Cat 5 which is the worse ever... and to go with it , it is hitting at high tide so we are expecting winds of 280kms an hour... which is about 500mils an hour and over 1 meter in rain... add that to the high tide they are expecting a wave surge of over 2 meters.. so more flooding...

they are cutting all power, telephones and taking down some of the towers around the place to stop people getting hurt... they are saying most roofs will be torn off... so everyone is taking shelter in their bathrooms as thisis the safest and strongest part of the house....

So i will update you all tomorrow morning when it has hit, adn left... poor buggers they are still cleaning up after the floods

I do hope your dads ok, at least he has the essentials packed, remind me if Im ever in a situation like that to stick with your old man, hes got his prioritys right

Not a chance of missing... this thing is 600kms wide... traveling at 35kms an hour.. the eye of the storm is over 100 m wide.... thye are expecting winds over 400kms per hour... and it is gaining speed as we speak...
there wont be anything left in her path.
such devestation as it is hitting the place the last one went thru a few years ago.. they are still rebuilding and now will have to start again
People are just freaking out and the problem is when it moves over them there is a deadly calm... people think it has passed only to go outside and realise that they are in the :eye" of the storm... this thing will pick up trucks, cattle, caravans, anything that is in its way.
My dad is filiming it and he is about 300kms south of where it will hit... (at this stage) it still could move as it comes in to the coast...

It must be so scary, can only really imagine from films. I really hope it doesn't cause complete devistation

We have lost TV at this point.. so we are watching the BOM for updates.
Queensland has been battered over the last 3 weeks.. it is just terrible.. I cant understand how , if there is a god up there, all this death and distruction can happen... just terrible

Its times like this Mel that make my religious opinions stronger Im not a beleiver! If there was something there this world wouldnt be so wrong just my opinion though. Hope it goes faster than it came and they can all get on with trying to rebuild there lives again xx

I hope everything goes alrigh. I don't think it has anything to do with god to be honest I know i don't believe in him but i think its do with people the last few years we have had the worst weather ever reported all over the world and i think its got alot to do with polution and our climate trying to right itself.

Well it passed with lots of distruction.. the winds were at 290kms an hour.
damage is un known at the moment... No loss of life reported at this stage..
I think we had so muc planning and warning that everyone got to safety in time.
There is more flooding and lots of water and trees everywhere. There are 175,000 homes without power or phones, winds are bring lots of power lines down.

Dad is fine and is still inside as the cyclone is heading down the coast rather than across inland which they thought it would.
he is fine adn it has been down graded to a 3 ( from a 5) so not much else will happen now thank god

Just seen it on the news and apparently no fatalitys and it didn't hit as hard as expected! just a worry of flooding now. Hope all gets back to normal soon, and I don't think I'll be wanting your climate now!!! Really pleased it didn't do the devestation first thought x
