Raw or not to raw?????
We thought that we finally found perfect food for sensitive Debo. He was doing great on F4Ds. And loved it untill the trip to Ireland. We had ferry in the morning ,so we thought it would be good idea to feed Debo after we arrive in Ireland. It was his first trip where he had to be left for the journey in the car. So when we arrived in Ireland we gave him food ,he had few bits and didn't want the rest. We put it down the stress. It was like that for the whole time in there. But when we came back nothing changed, we even mix it with some sardines and salmon staff from f4ds.Now we got to the point that he will eat only as much to not feel hungry, that in the morning. In the evening he will it most of it. Now,do you think he links his food with the stress of the journey. Or he's just fussy and I just have be strong and don't give up. He will get the idea that he won't get any thing else?
Is it normal that he poos 4 times a day? Sometimes witha bit of foam on the top,if you know what I mean.
That takes me to raw.
I'm starting to think about it more and more.
Is it expenisive?
Where do I start?
Can I mix it with dry?

Re: Raw or not to raw?????
Raw is great and quite inexpensive, if I had the time and room I would change.
As for Fish4dogs, Moo doesn't eat her breakfast anymore, and only eats her kibble if I mix it. I just think they get bored, but I'm also not going to swap as to me that is just being fussy! Harsh I know Xx

Re: Raw or not to raw?????
Raw IMO is ultimately better for them and you financially. Many companies supply raw dog foods, as well as the local butchers with offcuts etc.
You can mix dry with raw. Half n half or dry morning, raw evening vice versa.
Ella is super experienced raw feeder do any questions etc she will
Know !
My 2 love raw. I use www.barfpetfoods.com they are local to me and I can collect x

Re: Raw or not to raw?????
I mix it with a small amount of Sainsburys bought wet food. 1 can lasts 3 meals so it really is a small amount but she loves it.
I also has tummy probs with Moo, and I wouldn't have introduced this when she was younger, other wise is would come straight out the other end.
Royal canine sensitivity control is a great food for sensitive tums Xx

Re: Raw or not to raw?????
If you want, you can mix raw and dry, but have them separate.
Better to have raw in the morning and kibble in the evening! Due to the different digestion times the raw will have digested by the time you feed the kibble. If I remember correct, raw digests in 4-6hours and dry takes 8-12hours!

Same. Everytime I mix it with something new,it's coming back the other end. We used the royal canin when he picked up some bug and ended at the vet for 24h. Will try to mix it with the royal canin. If I have to change it again it will be for raw.

Re: Raw or not to raw?????
I would always say go raw but that's me
If you do your research and find suppliers or somewhere to buy the food before you start it will work out ALOT cheaper!
The best guide to switching is at the top of this page! for a bit of reading for you

Re: Raw or not to raw?????
To be honest, I know that if I start with raw,it will have to be just raw . After having piece of meat Debo won't touch dry. But how do I do it? Go straight to raw or introduce slowly? How much he should have,he's 17.40kg? Can he eat anything? Sorry for all the questions but it's like magic for me. To make him likes his food we bought f4ds salmon mousse but his poop is getting softer and softer. Do you think it too oily for him? I'm so tired.

Re: Raw or not to raw?????
If you want to do raw go for it.
Read the link I sent and it should be alot clearer
With swapping I personally do cold turkey, stop kibble that night and raw next morning. It's not like swapping brands and you are likely to get LESS stomach upsets doing it that way

Re: Raw or not to raw?????
I use Honeys. They deliver monthly and only use meat that is locally produced. They have a high ethic when it comes to where the meat is obtained which is important to me as well. Even if you do not choose to use them, they are very helpful when it comes to obtaining advice about switching to raw. They prepare a guideline sheet based on the age and weight of your dog. I have been with them now for about 6 months and my dogs absolutely love feed time now, they get excited about their food which they never really did with dry food where we had to constantly try and find something nice as well as healthy to mix in with it. The reason I use this company also is that they provide minced meat which has offal, bone and a little veg mixed in which gives the balance. I mix this with chicken wings, offal, lamb bones, raw eggs, fish, etc. They both look fantastic and I have no problems with their deposits, so to speak. Feeding raw doesn't have to be expensive and at least you know they are eating good food with no additives.
When I did the switch I did do it over a week, adding in a bit of their kibble to start with. I didn't have any problems with either or them.
Good luck.

Re: Raw or not to raw?????
I would put him onto one meal a day in the evening. All my dogs get shifted to this after 12months old. They start to pick at their food otherwise and get all fussy!
