Re: .,n/.
23kgs is quite big for a pup.. Is she full staff or crossed? All dogs grow at different paces she may fill out more or maybe not? It's the same as a child at 1yr old you don't really have a clue how big they will be

She is gorgeous and looks in great shape to me.. I think she will still develop a bit more in her head as she still has her little forehead wrinkles, those head muscles look to me like they are still growing and remember she is still a puppy

I was once told the 1st 9months the body grows, then the 2nd 9month the head. She's lovely
Kenny is 18inch and 20kg, she's a big girl at 23kg, but lovely just the same

I just want her to have a nice bully head and fill out
She's very big for a staff, and neither of her parents look like full staffs, so it's a little difficult to generalise. At 9 months, though, she still has a lot of growing to do.

Re: .,n/.
The sire is not full staff, so no she is not a full staff either. And dog on the chair and feet? Thats not nice

Re: .,n/.
23 kg at 9 months old OMG shes heavier than my male Mayja and his nearly 7 years old and is just under 17 inches tall:o
I doubt very much shes a full stafford, and going by her sires looks i'm guessing right.
Knowing what her finally head size will be is any-ones guess.

The dog is beautiful looking and there is very little wrong with her, just love her lots. Now my Victor Meldrew "i dont bloody believe it" moment. That picture of the sire on the bus seat with the trainers on the seat too, correct me if i am wrong and it is just an opinion, but that image to me says typical ignorant hoodie, a dog on public seats and your feet wtf, where is the consideration for others? dog hair on the seat the next person could be allergic, feet on seats? your not at home a little consideration please, even if the bus is empty it could go a long way to changing opinions of our dogs and us people who own them.

Staffies all mature at different rates and different orders - I've know some heads not to fully develop until 3 years.
Wholeheartedly agree with the feet on the chair comments. But as for dog on the seat lol they're Staffies - we all know that's where they THINK they should be lol

Re: .,n/.
steveb i concede defeat on the staffy being where they THINK they belong , but i have had to use an EpiPen far too often on clients allergic to certain everyday objects to not mention that while it is normal that we cuddle and share our space with our pets, but please remember that through no fault of their own some people can have devestating reactions to a number of things and as responsible owners we must be aware even the most innocent action can and will effect others in serious ways

I understand your point, but the breed standard was drawn up to standardise the look and to keep it a 'Staffordshire Bull Terrier'. Without the pedigree papers you have no idea what other breed has gone into your dog's make up, and you could end up with a com0pletely a-typical dog, as this poster's bitch certainly is. She's still a puppy and she's 23kilos! The upper limit for a stafford bitch is only 15 kilos. There's no way that she's a pure bred stafford.

Re: .,n/.
No offence .. but I think you may have your dogs weight wrong
this why I think that ...
A. 23kg is about the weight of the biggest, adult, male staffies i've seen, that are KC reg, whilst not the standard ... not a 9mth female pup!
B. Max is a medium to large boy, and was only around 15kgs at that age, and just over 20kgs now!
C. Lovely tho she is , if she is only 15" to the withers in that pic, there is no way she is 23kgs

crist she is a big girl. Romeo is concidered a big boy when he was in the ring and he one year old, he almost comes in at 20kgs.
many breeders have told me that he wont stop growing until he's around two or so. he's got quiet the head already

kiara wrote:In your opinion , does she look more like a bully or terrier type staffy . Also will she have a nice big bully head or a small one
Take in account the sire and dam
The dogs a bully type. Will it have a big head .. it might it might not what i dont understand is the obsession with head size.
The dogs not a pure bred Stafford so a typical staffords growth pattern can not be used on this dog as a guide to rate of growth.

Depends on which side you walk your dog. If you walk him on your left, then yes, it's the wrong way round.

Re: .,n/.
kiara wrote:Judging from her pic and pics of sire and dam . Does she look more like a bully type staff with bully heads or terrier type
The mum looks more terrier type and the dad more bully type. So who knows. However, she has a lovely head for such a young dog and I would lean toward saying it will end up more bully. Regardless of whatever else there maybe in the mix - she is a lovely looking dog with a clear Staffieness (my new word lol) so enjoy her.
Just wanted to add: Have you double checked the weight and height as from the avatar she doesn't look like she'd be 23kg if she was only 15inches to the withers. If she was I image she would appear overweight and that clearly isn't the case.

my initial thoughts were along these very lines.
but rather than start another storm in a drink bowl i have been watching the thread to see if anyone else had similar thoughts.
imo. you are right on the money here.
i'm surprised the red nose & bird of prey eyes haven't rated a mention.

Re: .,n/.
There was a DDB (puppy) in one of the classes we took Loki too...such a cute, playful little thing the eyes and the face in general does look very similar, but who knows? The parents don't look so much like they're mixed with it, not to me anyway. As for whether or not she'll gain anymore weight, if she's around 9 months old then presumably she has a bit more growing to do.

what they do is they crossbreed a staffy with mastiff or american bulldog then breed it back with a staffy then you get a dog with long legs and bulky then pass it off as a pitbull
