farting!
how can my dog fart so much?! they smell really bad and it seems like a constant stream of them.
i have changed his food several times but its still the same.
he's on wagg dry food and morrisons puppy wet food currently, but we've been through a few now! some of them he wont touch, some of them make his poop runny.
any advice? or should we invest in gas masks?

Re: farting!
We were thinking of changing Cassies name to Gassie at one point .But since she has been on her raw food it has become just about bearable,it seems all us stafford owners suffer the same punishment,it seems its just the cross we bear for loving them.Cassie still looks at me to accuse me of doing it because it can't be her now can it?

Re: farting!
Diet would be a major factor in the farting department I'm sorry to say, Wagg is not the greatest food in the world and probably rates alongside Bakers. If you can change to something of a better quality gradually over about a week I'm sure you will notice a change.
Good luck

Re: farting!
How often do you change his food? Regular food changing for any dog, especially a puppy, might upset the stomach a little.
Having said that, Dempsey farts no matter what we feed him. And he's proud of it!

Not good, I'm afraid. I personally won't feed wet food (tins, trays or rolls) because they're upwards of 70% water (some of them are 80%!). I can get that from the tap a lot cheaper!
Webbox Chubb Rolls should also not be fed alone, but mixed with biscuit. Too fiddly for me!

Again, Pal is awful & Butchers, although slightly better isn't brilliant.

Re: farting!
the food that smells bad in the tin smells worse coming out but the more established brands like pedigree, pal, butchers, winalot, ceaser also try the natural ones they are more expensive but they dont smell bad all cheap brands will make your dogs farts smell disgusting lol

You could try mixing in Wainwrights Trays - it's a better wet food, PAH's own brand.

Don't buy your food from the vets - they'll fleece you! You can get good quality food far cheaper than at the vets!

Farting
Get rid of the Wagg dog food it's chap and nasty. We have been using Butcher Tripe mix with fresh added carrot, peas and beans all of with are raw. It has worked a treat and was reccommended by a top dog trainer. Farting is also stress related in staffies. It's also made her calmer too where as before she was very hyperactive. She has 2 bowls a day 7am and 4pm and generally only toilets once a day now and there is alot less of it as the goodness is stay in the body. Best move we ever made. If you do this though do not give her cooked meat or a bone to chew on as the body gets used to the fresh food and it will make them sick as we found out after giving her a bone as a treat. Raw hide treats are allowed thought 2-3 times a week. Hope this helps...

Re: farting!
we tried giving him veg before, read on the internet that carrots and celery were good for dogs so tried them raw - he sniffed and practically ran away! tried par boiled - he sniffed and had a nibble, still didnt eat it. tried boiled to buggery - he ate one, picked the rest out of his bowl and actually carried them to the bin! was so cute but rather annoying!

Re: farting!
Cut it up small and add to the tripe mix and mix in well. Roxy eats her in 2 minutes. Remove the bowl straight after feeding or if it is not touched after 3 minutes and try again later...She will now eat raw carrot on its own as a treat.

Re: farting!
Ledger is on Pero now and is much better than when he was on JWB (or maybe i'm becoming immune) some mornings he doesn't like dry kibble but adding a bit of hot water and letting it cool makes it smell nice and gives it a self gravy and he can't get enough of it. As for the farting I know for sure when he has eaten my parents dogs food (she is on bakers) or has scavenged something off the floor in the park
Definitely recommend a better quality food many do sample bags and check out buying in bulk online as it can work out not much more than the cheap brands which often need bigger servings anyway

I do agree to get rid of the Wagg, but to be honest, Butchers Tripe isn't that much better. And adding raw veg will do nothing at all as dogs can't digest vegetables unless they're cooked or pulped.
Whether your dog is being given fresh food or not (and Butchers Tripe isn't fresh food) cooked bones should never be given, they are very dangerous.
Personally I'd never give rawhide as dogs with strong jaws like Staffords can bite off large pieces & swallow them - rawhide swells in the stomach, so a large piece can cause a blockage with potentially fatal consequences.

Agree with Caryll on the wainwrights trays, diesel was on them because she had a sentive tummy, vetput her on royal canine which was really good but dear.
Best thing ive ever done though is put her on a raw diet! She no longer comes with a toxic gas warning and her poos are less often and always solid plus she * loves it!! Hence why shes getting a bit podgy now, she could be a bit fussy sometimes with dog food but wolves down the raw stuff

I agree with Caryll( as always )-no rawhide. I use to gave it to Debo, stoped after he swallowed fist size of it. He scared me like hell. Just prayed he would be ok.Likely he was,but never again.
