Moo's progress

First topic message reminder :



This is more for me and anyone that wants to give me positive vibes, I know I could do with it.

So the back ground for those who don't know, Moo has had a limp for a month now, been to the vets twice, apart from x-rays I am at my last point of call, a different course of anti-inflams for 14 days and total rest.

Day 2; stopped indoors all day, great day off, limp has been obvious in the house. Have put her very old bed on the floor (been under my bed for last 2 years) so she doesn't keep hoping up and down on mine.

Small incident of her running into the door (glass), she saw a cat, and she has a lot of energy to get rid of. Never has she done this before!

Just taken her out for a toilets, we don't have a garden so its a 2min walk, no limp visible.

She has now gone to bed, hers on the floor bless her.

Fingers crossed and positive vibes for tomorrowXx

no worries,every day gets better,she can actually squat now to go loo and her tail is hanging properly now(no more does she look like a pointer dog ).your being so strong janey,this week has been so worrying for me and i've only had a week of worry,you've had to worry much longer,you'll get moo back good again x

Cheers love. work is a huge distraction, I'll be in tears again tomorrow I'm sure!

Just hope I'm doing what is right by Moo, so pleased Sasha is on her way to recovery Xx

Hi Janey and Stella. AT LAST, thanks to my hero Steve I am able to log in as "me" again and catch up properly and I am SO HAPPY to learn that the two little girls I was worrying about over the looooong weekend whilst I was incommunicado are both improving - that is great news.

I hope Moo keeps improving, glad the limp is less prominent and hope it continues to go

Ah Caryll, internet problems. I have been without a connection since last thursday and have missed everyone like mad. Today got my connection back (after a few hiccups, but I know what those are now) and had to log in again but forgotten my password. Tried to retrieve it but website couldn't match up my user name and email address. So I reregistered under a different user name. Steve, bless him, came on and offered to help - turns out that when I first registered I mucked up my email address - DOH!

Thank you for your support on another thread btw (a thread that turned out to be contentious - you know the one I mean).

All OK now - and back to Janey's thread and her next report.

Aaaaaand, back on topic!

Day 13 (morning);

Moo hasn't looked so great this morning so on the recommendation of a friend we have an appointment tonight with a different specialist.

Its almost alternative therapy. He does 'Mctimoney Chiropractic', she has the guy for her back (and swears by him) but he specialises in animals.

He also has 2 staffys himself so if anyone can help I am hoping he can.

Its a half hour appointment and the guy Jonathon sounded so lovely on the phone. I just hope he can give me some answers.

That sounds promising, I've never heard of that. Can't hurt, anyway!

Just home. Lovely man and he new his stuff, not really sure what he did, he realigned her spin, not that you could notice him doing anything.

He doesn't think that it is anything serious and said that xrays would only show up OCD, which as the lameness comes and goes, he doesn't think its that.

I now have to keep her rested again for another 7 days, and then an update to see how she is. He personally thinks it is most likely tendon damage, and that it will heal if I have the patience.

He said a great thing that, dogs live for the moment, so when I feel guilty about leaving her in all day, that a dog doesn't remember that after the excitement of you coming home.

So, lets see if this works, her skeletal frame has now been balanced.

Day 14;

Tbh I can't see much difference in her, the lameness is still there, the only good thing is I tried to take her out for a wee and she just sat and wouldn't budge as the weather is terrible here today. At least I don't mind snuggling in! Xx

It might take a day or two really show any effect.

Yes I was warned it could look worse for the next 24hrs, so we'll see Xx

i really think you should get a x ray done to rule out bad breaks or anything like glasses, seeds or pins thqat she may got inside her..

I'd give this latest treatment a chance first. If I could avoid anaesthetic I would (and have!).

Thing is Steve I have now seen 4 different people all of which have agreed that they believe nothing will show up on xrays.

This was the last thing to try really, and the guy has 2 staffs himself and in his honest opinion he would just rest them. All 4 vets think its soft tissue damage, if it where to be a break, it wouldn't come and go, if it was arthritis it would get progressively worse, and it isn't. It still could be OCD but if it is, leaving it another week isn't going to make any difference, and that is the only thing an xray will show up.

If she was showing any sign of pain I would have had the xrays a month ago, but she isn't.

It is a really tough one and I get where your coming from, she has only had total rest for 7 days, and even then its not total as I don't have a garden, but I have to go on the advice that they have given me Xx

Anyway, still sending positivie vibes (at least THEY don't need the internet!) and hoping you see some improvement soon.

Well no not really, its still ever so slight but still there. Xx

Sometimes I notice it other times I can't, it depends what movement she is doing. I don't know really, but we have both have cabin fever now Xx
