Insurance through vet
Hi, our vets offers a insurance package that covers treatment for life of dog, unlimited claim limit, vaccinations, flea treatment, worming each year if the dog is up to 20kg it costs £30.70 a month or if you pay in full deduct one months payment it also has a £25 excess. Whats your thoughts good value or bad.

Re: Insurance through vet
£30 a month is an awful lot if you don't have to claim for illness/injury - that's getting on for £400 a year!
It would be no good for me, as I only get the vaccinations every 3 years, the wormers every 3 months & the flea treatment only if necessary.

Re: Insurance through vet
I think it's ok , admittedly a little higher than you can get elsewhere but the conditions look pretty good. I pay about £6 or £7 a time for the wormer say £1.50 a month , no flea treatment un;ess required , not sure what I will be doing about vaccinations now I know it can be 3 years but I think that was £30 or £40 this time so about 3.50 a month and I pay and additional £20 a month for the insurance - this is for each dog BTW and although the insurance is good not the same conditions as this,. Really you only get value for money if you have to use it but personally it's an expense I hope is wasted as if its wasted tyhe dogs have no problems
£25 excess is good too , I pay £75 I think

The monthly premium does seem quite high, will that increase next year as most others do ?

So, per year you pay a maximum of £300 per year, per dog, but that includes 3rd party insurance of up to (at least) £1000,000.
The vet's deal is for £370 per year without 3rd party.
But the real problem for me would be what if you (heaven forbid) have to use an emergency vet? They won't accept an agrrement like this for treatment & your vet probably won't pay for any treatment carried out by another vet.
