Yawning?

Yawning?
So, I've read up on dogs' body language and how yawning is a sign of stress or a calming signal and so on. I've noticed that every time I stroke Loki, he'll yawn quite a bit or lick his lips/the air. Is this him telling me he's uncomfortable? I find it weird, because he's the one that comes over and sits by me to let me know he wants affection, and if I stop, he'll look up at me wondering why I've stopped. If you stop for long enough, he'll walk over to someone else and get them to stroke him . So I don't get it; is he yawning because he's calm already, or is he yawning because he finds it uncomfortable or stressful for some weird reason?

Re: Yawning?
Personally I would take absolutely no notice of what you read , my dogs are hooman and if Tilly or Tommy come to me , settle down and yawn whilst they are being stroked I take this as a sign they are settled and content... and of course a little tired When I say biscuit to Tilly she licks her lips or the air , what do you think this means

Apart from on here!
I've always thought that licking is a sign of anxiety but yawning is, well, yawning!

But of course , . So when Tilly puts her tongue out and licks her lips when I say biscuit , that's because she is anxious about eating a biscuit Obviously I will have to stop this immediately , don't want to stress her out

Re: Yawning?
Well, it does say on the body language page on here that yawning is a calming/stress sign, as well as other places, so I assumed it was true, but I know it's not necessarily a bad thing. He doesn't look uncomfortable or anything, like I said, if you stop he tries to find someone else but just wanted to ask because it seemed odd based on what I read.

I think a lot of signals can be taken more than one way, depending on the circumstances.

Re: Yawning?
I had read somewhere that especially when a pup yawns they are trying to work something out,
Much like we may scratch our head or rub our chin.....
