Re: raw beef from PAH
Well i'm a raw feeder, so i'm biased and will always say that raw is better then kibble!
If you want to feed some raw along with kibble instead of a whole raw diet. feed a meal of one and a meal of the other.
So for breakfast give raw and a tea of kibble.
If he's never had raw meat before it's best to start with chicken as it's a bland protein and easy for the stomach to digest. Keep the beef you have bought though for a later date

Re: raw beef from PAH
how much dry are you feeding? if you want to do a meal of raw half the amount of kibble and make it up with the raw meal and go from there

Can't add to that, exept to say that some of the frozen bags of raw 'beef' contain heart & tongue. Nothing wrong in that, but heart is quite a rich meat & too much can give a dog a touch of bum gravy & tongue is as tough as old boot so some dogs don't like it much.
Dempsey loves tongue - he would, he has no brain to think about it!

Most of them do, although some can take a short while to get used to it.
I've never known a raw fed dog get fed up with his food!

Re: raw beef from PAH
If you feed raw then you have to include a little offal in the feeding regime (liver, kidneys, spleen - not heart as that's muscle meat, not offal). They don't need much, just a little bit a couple of times a week.
Heart's good, but as I said it's quite rich so not an every day food. Tripe (green) is excellent but inclined to put weight on a dog!
Other than that, any raw meat is good. When you're just starting, though, stick to one protein source for a month, then gradually introduce another & build your dog up to all meat types.

Re: raw beef from PAH
Tripe has very little fat and calories in it.
It puts weight on dogs as they very rarely turn it down, so people feed it alot to dogs and therefore they put weight on

Re: raw beef from PAH
Hi ive always been lead to beleived that no amount of food or feeding will change your dogs physical structure its genetic make up is the end product of development, you can tweak it slightly to balance the dog best you can. A good diet is the best way to go for a developing puppy there is no way you can make the dog grow a bigger head, longer legs, bigger chest by giving more food or better quality food just get a fatty belly.karlsblue wrote:so is tripe a daily thing or weekly thing, also is it a good thing to make the dog stockier is that the right word to use. and caryll nice ebt you have looking to get one of these myself

Tripe can be given daily, there's no problem with that, although a varied diet is much better. As gem says, no food on its own will change the genetic make up of your dog. If it has a genetically big head or a genetically deep/wide chest, then that will happen no matter what food you give. The difference is that a healthy dog, on the best possible food, will be in better 'shape'. Its coat will shine more, it will have stamina & energy.
But even with good food, a dog won't realise its full potential without the correct amounts of exercise, play, love & companionship!

EBT are know to have a lac of intellegence so to speck, they are not the brainiest breed of dog. when breeding them the amount of milk the pups have from their mother can cause the mother to have a calcium difficency, which can cause them to be snappy an they can turn on their pups an kill them, also EBT are clumsy and can end up smothercateing their pups not intencialy but it can happen. ive know people who breed this type of dog has a hobbie and they say they are not the easyiest dog to breed as they need monitoring regualy while the pups are young and they need help to deliver the pups, with their long snout they cannot see fully infront off it and as it requires them to use their front teeth to rip the bag an cut the cored they can end up biteing the pup and killing it. if you was thinking about breeding this dog i would advise you do your research
