Re: When Tilly was big
Oh gorgeous. Little Tommy looks so like the little puppy (although healthier thank heavens) that we had for 4 short days before we lost him. Photos of little red puppies still make me well up.
So glad your two are well and healthy - well done and love to them both.

Oh well, to make it short, we bought the runt of the litter, and the only red one. He was much quieter and gentler than his brothers and soooo sweet - 11 weeks old. He was a bit skinny but we thought with our TLC and good food, and not having to compete with his bigger brothers at the feeding bowl, he would pick up. He was with his brothers and we didn't notice then, but when we got him home on his own we noticed his breathing was laboured even when resting. This was a Friday and we were advised by our vets to let him settle in and bring him on Monday (we were going to visit the vets anyway, as you do when you first get a puppy). On Monday the vet checked him and we told her about his breathing; she advised an x-ray the following day. Tuesday, in for the x-ray first thing. The x-ray showed that he had congenital emphysema, and we were told that nothing but invasive surgery could hope to cure it, and the vet's opinion was that he was too weak to survive that ordeal. In the few short minutes that I was breaking this news to my son (whose puppy he was), the vet rang back and said that he had collapsed and asked permission to put him to sleep. We had no option, he would have died anyway.
We were heartbroken and went that afternoon to the breeders, who gave us in exchange his litter brother - our lovely Kuchar. As soon as we got Kuchar home we could see the difference - so much livelier and happier.
I would post a photo I have of Trigger "resting" , but can't seem to manage it (don't have an Avatar, whatever THAT is) but it shows how ill he really was, if we had but known it. Our only consolation is that we gave him 4 days of love and devotion.
RIP Trigger.

Sorry for hijacking your post Dave (and killing it stone dead it seems).
Please do move my posts on this thread to a more appropriate one (or delete them if you prefer), and then everyone can get back to enjoying your photos.
You have lovely dogs and I hope Tommy is better today.

What a terrible story to have to tell , hope I haven't brought too many memories back by asking , sorry I didn't get back to you over the weekend just been really busy and forgot to "watch" the post so gets lost in the hundreds of others made.

Re: When Tilly was big
Oh please don't apologise "for not getting back" - I wasn't expecting a response. I just felt guilty about putting Trigger's story onto what is such a happy post - it was inappropriate.
I'll look at Rainbow Bridge and Pet Memorial - thank you.

Don't be a crazy woman but thankyou for forum manners, you mentioned in your post , I asked and you replied , that's how we roll.
Like you said a sad time but you gave him 4 happy days that he might not have had , and you got Kuchar ><
