american football team base in london
what would it be call??
british bulldog? > that would be a good name
british bulldog? > that would be a good name
Re: american football team base in london
I'm not sure it would work. There might be enough fan intrest but half of their games would be played in the US so the travel and scheduling would be too hard I think.
A minor league of 8 teams or so all based in the UK would probally be the first step.

i'm not sure it a league would work in the uk we like a football to much a team that plays in american i can see working
Re: american football team base in london
It would be great for the sport but I would feel bad for the team. Too much yet lag. There are also games on Monday and Thursday now so they could have to play in the US on Monday and than the UK on Thursday. Too much jet lag and time adjustment not to mention they wouldn't be able to get in enough practices.

The afternoon games would be starting right now. I'm not sure enough people would follow the team given they play half their games at midnight in another country. The TV contract and revenue sharing by the league and union would also be hard to sort out.

Re: american football team base in london
what the bloke from the usa said it wouldn't much different when a team from he east coast has to play a team from the west coast
Re: american football team base in london
I'm not sure how long the flight is but it has to be about 8 hours or so. It's hard for teams to go from east to west coast now. It would be huge from the league but difficult to do. I know the attendance is great at the game they play there now so maybe they find a way.

Re: american football team base in london
what would happen if it did happen would a team from he usa move over or would a new team form?
Re: american football team base in london
There are a couple of teams looking to move because of financial issues. If they added a new team they would have to add a second one as well to keep the number of teams even. LA hasn't had a team in awhile so that would likely be the second one added.

It would be up to the new owners. It's about half and half with the team keeping the same name.

Re: american football team base in london
If it's a new team just don't have too high of an expectation. It would take 5 years or so for them to be competative.

Re: american football team base in london
The college ones are larger than the pros. Colleges hold 110,000 or so and most of the pros hold 70,000 or so I think

The pro stadiums have luxury boxes, restraunts etc so there is less space. The tickets are alos alot more expensive than college. Plus the pro TV contract says a teams game can't be shown on local TV unless all the tickets are sold so they try to balance making money with keeping the intrest of the fans who can't afford to attend the game.
The college stadiums are larger because tickets are cheaper and the students always fill up the stadium so they make money off of food and beer. If the tickets were more expensive less people would come.

It's my favorite sport. I guess because I played it so long I have more of an understanding of the strategy involved.

our football league team should be looking how you lot run your americna football, there 5 leagues premiership, championship, league 1, league 2 and the Conference Premier and below that are part time/ and pub teams.
my team is in league 1 and i have to paid £23 a game far to much to watch league 1 football it should be half the price!!

Re: american football team base in london
Football is huge business in the US. The teams over valued at over a billion dollars a piece. The downside being to take a family of four to a game it costs about $500 or so and that's with just decent seats.
