Meet Kerry, NE Hants

Hi, everyone.
This is Kerry Blue:


After owning smaller, more independent animals before, we have now adopted Kerry - from the RSPCA in Chobham.
She had been found abandoned in June with a litter of puppies. Age estimated as about three. Not her first litter.
One of the staff decided on her name, so we're sticking with it.
The pups sold as soon as they were weaned but, it seemed, no-one wanted a Staffy. She's adorable and we fell in love instantly.
It's a good job we're retired as she takes up most of our time and pines terribly if either of us goes out the door without her. That has put a stop to any holiday plans or even nipping out to go swimming or shopping together for the moment.
She's great with people and kids but not good with other dogs, though getting a little better with every encounter.

It's like having our first baby - so many things to buy and arrange, so many worries and questions to ask.

Well done for rescuing, our dog Rocky is also a rescue dog. The separation anxiety will get better, just try leaving her for a few minutes at first then built this time up gradually until she can be left alone safely. Leave something for her to chew, like a kong or a stag bar or both

I hadn't realised what an international forum this is. It looks like Janey is the only owner anywhere near us, so far.

Thanks again, everyone.

Kerry is getting better when we meet other dogs on walks. We've abandoned the body harness and extra lead and, today when we took her up to the common, we tried her on a running lead, since there were no other dogs around. She loved being able to run here and there, instead of just walking alongside us.
Training class went well and she's learning all sorts of commands
