Re: Dempsey's Brother
I've had them for a while, just forgot about them!
No, he isn't local. The breeder kept him from the litter, but when he got to about 9 or 10 months he went undershot, so he went to a pet home. I tried to get a local couple to buy him, but they were too slow!

Re: Dempsey's Brother
There was a red sister & a white sister, too. I've got a pic of the red somewhere (must try to find it) but I've only got a pic of the white at about 4 or 5 weeks old. She was the best of the litter by far!

Lovely pups and lovely adults! And bloody big by the looks of it!! I would have to say though I think I prefer them with a bit of colour rather than pure White! Just my opinion though!

Re: Dempsey's Brother
I prefer the coloureds, although since I've been more involved with bullies I can see the beauty in the whites. My prference would always be coloured, though - either red & white or brindle & white.

Yeh me too! Think it shows off the body shape better! Not that it matters. But you do want a good looking dog don't you?

I've never seen one. Seen a liver coloured one & it looked pretty horrible!
On a totally different line, the Kennel Club has just agreed to ban the merle colour in BT's - from march this year they will not register either merle pups, or pups from a mating where one or both parents are merle.

Re: Dempsey's Brother
why would they do that for?
i can never understand why they banned different in breeds

Re: Dempsey's Brother
The merle pattern isn't just a 'colour' gene. It carries various serious health issues like deafness, eye problems & many others. Some breeds already have bans on mating two merles because of that.
The Bully ban has come about because someone somewhere said that they'd like to see what a merle bull terrier would look like & wouldn't it be fun to breed one? So the Bull Terrier Clubs petitioned the KC & they agreed to the ban & non-registration.

Re: Dempsey's Brother
i'm sure white one have healthy issue too? like deafness, blindness and skin problem well not just bull terrier that with all breeds
Re: Dempsey's Brother
Yes, but merle always carries health problems, they're not just more likely to get them. If you breed a merle to a merle, you will get a sick pup in one way or another.

Re: Dempsey's Brother
Bless hes still beautiful, I expect that can be a more-common problem in your breed given the shape of the skull?

Re: Dempsey's Brother
Yes, an undershot mouth is a problem in the breed. It's because the standard calls for a strong underjaw. Staffs used to have a problem, but I don't know if they still do.

Re: Dempsey's Brother
Wow, Dempsey's brother is gorgeous,I love the brindle. My hubby loves white ebt's. I really do not like the whites, and as we know I'm not fond of ebts so wouldn't get one anyway, but if I did give in to the hubby, it would be a brindle and white. I think the pure whites look evil. Very scary.

Wow the tri colour from Ireland is stunning, i love these dogs could look at them all day, but Carylls honesty about the breed puts me off ever getting one sounds like hard work but still love them, especially Dempsey Caryll

If you're prepared to put a little extra work in, then they're fantastic - very rewarding!

Re: Dempsey's Brother
I like them, but I never wanted one. I was put off by the skin complaints some of them get & the fact that they never look white unless you chalk them. I can't be doing with that! Either that or a bath every other week!
