I think isurance companys have you over a barrel though. I don't think you can get life cover when you swap and then they manage to get away with never having to pay out by claiming it was a prior illness, and if you stay with your usual then the premiums go up. Win win for them!

But yes I have insurance and due for renewal in a month! Sad

I'm with animal friends and only have the basic cover which is really cheap. I have £90 excess but don't think it covers a lot, couldn't afford much more, but it covers accidents and thats my main one at the mo. But its not life cover, which is recommended on here

I was with Marks & Spencer, but they wanted to double the premium, so i switched to Sainsbury's. I pay just over £13 a month, with a £75 excess. Seeing as Dempsey's vet bills over the past year have totalled about £3000, I reckon I'm doing ok at the moment!

I would if I could afford it, I guess I have never had a problem...yet...and although its basic its better than none. I may regret that but as I haven't had to claim or pay out then we're ok for now.

I had insurance for Bandit from 6 months until he died, and never claimed once! Dempsey's not yet 2 years old, & I've already claimed 2 whopping great bills!

Im glad we got Logan isured on a whole life policy. But its not cheap. £30 a month, but with his scan coming up tomorrow it might be worth it. If there's nothing wrong with him we'll shop around but when i was told there might be a problem with him i didnt have time. I just wanted him covered.

I'm with the PDSA, I have their middle cover and it was £75 for the year, paid it all in one.

I looked around everywhere and they were the cheapest, she's coming up for renewal in June, so will begin hunting around soon.

I aint got kaiser insured yet just been searching for quotes and john lewis do lifetime cover 7000 a year and 75 excess for 13.79 a month which i thought was really good or if your dog is accident prone you could get them covered up to 10,000 a year 75 excess for 14.79 a month

Sainsbury's is a little over £13 per month for Dempsey & is for £7500 per illness for life with a £75 excess.

Always make sure that the cover is per illness, not per year. Otherwise, if your dog develops a long term illness, you may only be covered by the insurance for a year!

They will pay out,i had only got Cairos cover a few weeks, and she had to have a stomach operation because she swollowed a part from a ''indistructable toy'' doh She was in overnight on drips and stuff after, and the grand total was £865! Surprised

They are all considered 'high risk' or banned dogs. Most insurers in this counrty will be the same.

As Caryll said, a lot of those dogs on that list are actually banned, and also high risk. It's like car insurance companies who won't insure young drivers, or certain types of car.
