Nibbling Feet
Why does my Staffie nibble her toes...anyone know please...?
Could it be something in her diet...
She is on Burns dry kibble, with a little added moist...
We have only had her just over a week, and she was on Wagg dry food at the rescue...
I did not like that particular food, hence I changed to Burns...
Opinions/suggestions welcomed please...
Thank you...

Re: Nibbling Feet
It could be a yeast build up, a mild infection, an allergy....so many things.
Try bathing her paws with a salt water solution when you come in from walks. It'll soothe & if it's anything she's treading in outside (cut grass is a common allergen) that should help.
You could also add some apple cider vinegar to her food or water - that'll help counteract any yeast build up.

Could be a build up of bacteria. You could try wiping them with a damp cloth of salt water after walks.

Burns is a good quality food and should be OK with this. Some dogs will nibble thier feet from boredom, does she have lots of chew toys to play with, chew. ??

Re: Nibbling Feet
Have you checked her pads thats shes not cut them in any way ?
It could be due to the wet weather we have had and her having access to wet grass.
Drying her feet will help, as she could have something like athletes foot its not called this in dogs, but its similar yeast causing an irritation between her toes and pads causing her to nibble.
Years ago in a pet shop you could buy canker powder its brilliant stuff to fight ear/feet yeast problems in dogs. Now a days it can only be bought on line or ebay, plus the names now changed its now called THORNITS. Get yourself some of this powder and if its yeast it will clear the problem

Re: Nibbling Feet
Moo went through a spell of licking her front inside leg! Would make it really sore sometimes, but it was just a habit she had got into, and I just had to stop her with a firm no, she got over it.
I hope you find a solution for Poppy

Re: Nibbling Feet
My girl has nibbled her feet for over a year and it was really annoying me as knew there was something wrong and everytime i had taken her to vets i was told she was fine . Then About a month ago she went to get some new medication as she has allergies to insect bites and he checked between her toes yet again and noticed she actually had berry bugs (harvest mites) from the berrys of shrubs and plants hope this helps if you check between there toes and if you find red / orange wee spots lumps thats berry bugs if not that could be allergy dermatitis x

Re: Nibbling Feet
I had this with Molly, worked out it was freshly mowed grass that was causing it.
