Has anyone ..
tried "Halva" ? .... in particular, polish Halva .. spelt "Chalwa" ?
For those who havent (and I'm guessin thats quite a few ) .. its a crumbly, but strangly sticky sweet served all over europe, I was given a small peice by my Dad when I was a little 'un, thinkin I wouldnt like it (like dads do ) .. and I LOVED it ... you can find varients of it in many place's, but I have only just, literally only just found the proper polish stuff I've been lookin for since I was a kid, in a small shop back in my home town 30miles away .. last time I was there about a month ago they only had two packs left which I swiftly bought ... but I NEED more now .. they better have restocked when I visit the outlaws on Sat

Have to ask my polish descent friend over the road, never ever tried it, when you say sweet are we talking sweetie or pudding

Re: Has anyone ..
Its such a hard one to describe mate, its like a block that you you'd cut a small amount off and eat after a meal, or with a coffee (tho I have it with red wine ) ... it dosent look particularly appatising TBH, but I absolutely love it ... you can get it from place's like Julian Graves, but that is a long way off what it should taste like and is usually the wrong consistancy
Its very sweet, and pretty dense, but should be smooth in texture ... oh, and its no good if yer on a diet

It has crossed my mind Kathy before, but I really cant imagine it would taste anything like it should if I made it .. and I'm a bit of a perfectionist so it would prolly end up through the kitchen window
