Blaze all grown up.. nipping problem?
Blaze is no longer the innocent puppy I had at 5 weeks. After all the advice, he's turned out to be a healthy, and fast growing lad. No dog aggression whatsoever! In fact he's completely submissive with any dog, and will mess about, hanging off their ears play fighting given the chance!
Instead, my issue is when he becomes VERY excitable. Any visitors, or even if I walk through the door, he jumps up, bouncing around everywhere, constantly wanting to be a lap dog. He's started nipping quite a bit when he's excited, I've tried telling him "NO!" in a firm voice, and he's sent to his bed for 5. He understands this, and when time is up comes crawling back, feeling sorry for himself. I just don't want to risk the nipping continuing, as I have young children around him (who he is very good with!), and don't want them accidentally nipped when he's excited! If you point your finger, he thinks you're playing and tries nipping it too.
Anyone have any advice for this?

Can't believe how grown up he is

Here is a link that should help. Basically do what you are doing and turn around and ignore him. It's a phase they all go through. Make sure everyone reacts the same everytime and he will learn.

Try not to point your finger at him if he has a tendancy to go for it. Keep going with turning your back and ignoring him until he sits down, then try giving praise and a small treat when he is sitting down calmly.

He's gorgeous
Just keep doing what you're doing. It'll eventually go away, just every dog is different. Loki used to be hellish with constantly biting, but now he only does it, like Blaze, when he's very excited, and even then, he responds to saying no and will stop it...usually. It's a process, so keep with it.

Jellybean does the same exact thing, she's maybe 2 months older than Blaze and she's starting to grow out of it, a little less jumping and nipping when anyone enters like my husband from work or the kids, guests... well, she's sort of growing out of it. This past week has been regression week for her or something, maybe a last ditch attempt to cling to her fleeting puppy-hood. Nipping, mouthing a LOT with a bit of pressure even, peeing and pooing inside... Hopefully she grows out of that too and SOON, but as said above, scolding with a firm NO and ignoring tends to work for her nipping and otherwise, we shove something she is allowed to chew/bite in her mouth when she's really excited.
And the pictures are GREAT, he is GORGEOUS, what a fantastic color and such a handsome face
