Am i doing this right
Ok so over the past 2wks(ish) Vinnie has become a right little begga! occasionaly with his mouthing! and not doing as he's told .. he knows it's wrong because ever since he came here he was taught it was wrong .. but as of recently he has his mad run around the house and when he gets over the top we get him to calm down because he's either gonna end up hurting himself! or breaking something.
When we tell him now tho he either point blank ignores OR he mouth's ya hands or arms .. When he does this he gets a straight forward NO! if he does it again he gets time out for about 5-10mins and when he's let out i ignore him apart from saying on you're bed! so he knows that if he mouths a good thing wont come from it. (when he comes out of time out he does obviously recognise his done wrong because he trys to lick ya hand and he will go on his bed as his told)
I no his a pup and he will get excited and he has things to learn but just wanted to ensure im doing this properly so he learns properly!
He is also booked in for castration week after next so hopefully that will help matters aswell lol

Sounds like your doing everything right, and I think he will grow out of it if you keep persisting. When he mouths your hand make sure if you use hand signals you always use a flat hand so he can't get hold of fingers etc.
Thay are a very stubborn breed and you have to be really firm. He'll get there although he may not calm down much!!

As Janey said, firmness, persistence and consistance is the key. They are a stubborn lot and will walk all over you if you let them. Hope his castration goes well, it may help a little, it may not. Only one way to find out

Right then,I know cesar millan is a touchy subject on here but something I got from his program is that dogs don't understand words and time out won't mean the same to a dog as it does a child, ive never raised a hand to sid (obviously) but do make sure I am dominant over him because I can't afford for him to get to over the top with my girlfriends kids (because I would have to move out as I'm not getting rid of him!!) but anyway,he knows that if I say "ah" or click my fingers he stops instantly!! Not sure how to explain being dominant though, just to mean it when you say it, and if they try and run away when you tell them off to make sure they are submissive before you let them walk away! Sid is a good boy and does what he is told so there must be something in it!

Re: Am i doing this right
Cesar milan isnt exactly a touchy subject, I think he really does know dogs although dont agree with one or two of his methods. The problem is when people are convinced cesar's way is the only way and wont listen to anything other. I watch his show and do get alot from it. I really rate vicky stillwell too. I get what you mean about the dominant thing, I use body language and hand signals with Charlie and it works a treat.
