Re: a bad day
Anyone tried that instant freeze thing with a beer bottle. Leave it in the freezer for 3 hours then take it out and bang it on the table and it looks like an explosion going off in the bottle and the beer turns into ice instantly.
Never knew that until I seen it on ske last week. Was always to busy getting drunk.

Re: a bad day
Wish there'd been something like that round here when Dempsey was little.
I was thinking of taking him back to the training club I went to for a while, when he was between about 5 months & 12 months. I stopped because there were too many dogs there & I felt it was getting out of hand - you had to walk the dogs round with their noses virtually up the backside of the dog in front.
Can you honestly see Dempsey putting up with that? I'd like to see their reaction, though, when they see how much he's grown!

Re: a bad day
LOL.... to funny
Well when we were at the beach the other night we walked past the soccer over across the road.. like 5 min walk from my house... and there was a woman locking the gate.
I know they used to train dogs there so i asked her.. she said yes they train on a sunday morning at 8.30... Shultzhund training..... so I googled it and it looks llike something we could get into...
she told me until 6 months i would be lucky to have Holly doing much at all... so of course Calahni yells out she can Hi 5 and sit and drop and roll over.. the woman looked at her like : in your dreams "..... lol
so we showed her.. she invited us to come and look on sunday.. $70 rego adn $5 a lesson ,, not bad and in walking distance too..
what you think of this?

Re: a bad day
Schutzhund training is great up to a point. You do realise that it includes 'man work'? ie, the dog must run at & grab the arm of a volunteer (with padding on). They also have to heel, scale, track and do sits & downs with the owners out of sight.
I've known a staff get to a really good level, but generally speaking they're too small to really do well.
Having said that, if you're keen, then it's great excercise & it teaches good control.
P.S. You'll find it's mainly GSD's!

Re: a bad day
Yeah that is what i just read on the web site...
I am not sure I want Holly running and grabbing someones arms....
and yes GSD is 90%
hmmm maybe i might just stick with the normal stuff ... tunnels and flyball things lol

Re: a bad day
Don't get me wrong, schutzhund training is a lot of fun! I just wonder if most staffs would really get it, and I'm not sure that a staff running at someone & grabbing their arm is such a good idea!
Mind you, it doesn't need to be schutzhund. You could just try working trials - that goes in stages, starting off with heel work, tracking, sits & downs & scaling. You can then go for a qualification (I assume it's the same in Oz) called Companion Dog (CD) and go on to the next stage. It isn't till you get high up the qualification ladder that man work comes in to that!
This is what it entails in the UK:

No its for real. Don't do what I have done so many times and forget about it until it explodes in the freezer. Put a bottle in for 3 hours take it out. It will still be liquid, bang it on the table and it makes it fizz which makes the molecules bounce and it turns to ice. It really good. Don't do what I did and decide to use it as a party trick and bang it on your head......not a bright idea and 1 step off bottling yourself lol

Re: a bad day
Movie synopsis:
Mad piano playing followed by Charlie Chaplin walking on set, whistling silently as he stumbles along. Suddenly! a staffy appears barking madly (but silently) as the piano music heats up. The staffy grabs Charlie Chaplins arm, Charlie pulls his arm away but the staffy won't let go, the piano music gets louder and faster. A huge, big, black '!' appears on the film to let the audience know that Charlie is thinking about what to do next.
Charlie signals to us, the viewers that he has thought of something. He puts his fingers to his mouth and whistles. On rushes the heroine. She has a bottle of bubbly in her hand. She looks at Charlie and the dog, she flaps her hands silently in the movie, she slaps her sides, she twists she turns, anything to distract the dog away from Charlies arm. Finally, she smashes the bottle over her her head. The dog leaves go of Charlies arm. The credits roll. The audience goes wild, and the caption reads 'Blimey Janey! that was a daft thing to do though!

Liking the story, very creative
Not too sure on the Janey bit! If it was empty I may smash it over my head but I'd drink it first!

He didn't say he was drinking the Bells, just that his OH had a Bells bottle & had that look in her eye! Could be that it's the OH who's drinking the Bells!
