Hello
Hi All.
I am Steven and I live in Brighton with my partner and 2 rescue staffy's. Here is our story....
Tyson was the 1st rescue we adopted, 14 months ago. He had been purchased by grandchildren for their disabled elderly grandmother for company after her husband died. The lady was unable to walk Tyson due to her using walking sticks so during his 10 months of life Ty never went on a walk, never met other dogs and his only excercise was a ball being thrown down the garden. Unfortunately Tyson got under his owners feet and she fell down the stairs...breaking her back. She spent a long time in hospital and Tyson was placed into private kennels funded by his owner until a suitable home could be found.
I work for the local authority and I had a word with our dog wardens about getting a small dog. Tyson was suggested and off we went to see him, an hour later we were the proud owners of a very high jumping, hyper dog that humped everything in site..chair legs, doors, humans and even invisible items! his previous owner said "It's not sexual, he has been done, he is just loving you" Yeah Right!!
For the first few months Ty was the dog from hell and we were on the verge of returning him to the kennels but a last minute decission changed Tyson and us forever... we called upon the services of a dog whisperer. And after 2 hrs and after she left we have never looked back... Tyson is.. as the home boarders say 'a perfect gentleman, very polite and a pleasure to have around' We thought they were joking but standing back and looking in, they are right, tyson has turned into a beautiful dog and a pleasure to have around....most of the time and as long as his 'Kong' is in sight!! Now his obsessiveness with his Kong is another story!
In May we went on holiday for a week and decided not to kennel Tyson as we did not want him to have to experience that again, in case it turned him back into the dog from hell so we decided to find home boarders. Luckily for us we found a married couple a few miles away who are accredited by the local authority and they accepted him with open arms as they are Staffy lovers. Ty's holiday went well and upon our return we were introduced to Ty's playmate for the week, Daisy, a 6 month old Staffy X (a X with what we are not sure...from her markings and shape, very possibly a Collie) anyway she was staying there as her owners had givern her up (yes at such a young age, poor thing) and yes you guessed right..we are now the proud owners of another Staffy rescue dog. My mum always said the 2nd child was worse than the first and the same goes with dogs.... Thats another chapter for another time. For the moment you have met our boy and I am sure you will be hearing more tales.
