Re: does your dog??
Yes mine does it as well. I can't explain why they eat other animals poo but they roll in it to cover their own scent.

It's very common as Janey said. My boy has never been into eating poo, but he will roll in EVERY bit he finds. Fox poo seems to be his favourite but he'll roll in all kinds. Thank god he doesn't eat it, I don't know how I would cope with that

Dempsey will eat most things, poo included. His favourite is cow pats - the sloppier the better! He also rolls in every kind of poo he can find.

Thankfully, Loki hasn't eaten or rolled in any poo yet, and I'm hoping he doesn't pick it up either. I know a woman whose dog, when it was a puppy, was constantly running over to her, bringing her "gifts" of poo or dead animals they are weirdos sometimes.

Re: does your dog??
Trouble always sniffs poo but as soon as he goes anywhere near i give "leave It" command in a cross voice as i do not wish to have smelly poo in my car ..Foxes poo is the worst but thankgoodness he has never eaten any....if he did he would not be giving me any staffy kisses

Re: does your dog??
Daisy rolls in almost anything! When she was a younger pup she went through a stage of eating her own poo However, this did stop. She now rolls in smelly cut grass (usually her only opportunity on our standard walk) but on our longer walks through fields she tries to eat cow poo. I usually take a green dog home after she's spent the day rolling in the cow pats too...

Re: does your dog??
I know Ty would eat cat poo if he could find it and, on the two occasions we have been around horses, he acted as if horse poo was caviar!

Diesel used to eat her own poo but since we have had Tank she now only eats his ! I have to be so on the ball and pick it up before she does !
Haven't had either of mine roll in any poop... Yet !

Re: does your dog??
I was always under the impression that they eat herbivore's poop because it is fibre in an easily digestible form, ie. its already been digested once! Its funny because it never makes them ill. And I can totally sympathise with the rolling in muck! My girls run ahead to do it, they know I hate it but I think to them its part of the fun of the walk. I believe this is to cover their scent, an instinctive thing for a predator.

Try to keep Rocky away from as much as possible, will have a go for horse poo given half a chance though when we are out in the country on a walk.
