Hi! New red staffy :)
Hi there! New to this! Got a red staffy he's 2 years old! The owner was pregnant and couldn't keep him! He's an amazing dog and is a big softy! I hate how they get such bad press but their amazing dogs! The old owner let him sleep in bed with her and my family ain't really into that! Any tips on how to get him used to a dog bed??

Hi and welcome from us and Suki. Just make sure everyone enforces the new rules from the beggining. You may want to put his bed in your room though.

Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me.
Rocky sleeps at the bottom of our bed, you may want to try keeping his crate/bed in the bedroom with you to avoid and seperation anxiety.

Hi and welcome from Kia and me,
we had the same thing with Kia, her first owner had let her sleep on there bed, and my other half did not like the idea, so we put her bed just outside our bedroom door and we leave the door open so she can see us, she has jumped on the bed a few times but a firm no or down command from us and she will get back down and go to her own bed, you just have to be firm and most importantly consistent.
and almost forgot dont be shy with the photos of Kai we all love to see loads of photos on here

Re: Hi! New red staffy :)
Good on you for taking him in, I agree that having him in your room crated is a good idea, he will feel more comfortable with, you close and wont be able to jump on the bed! Hopefully you'll be able to sleep

Re: Hi! New red staffy :)
Tilly sleeps on our bed and Tommy will pick our bed or any other suitable when he is trusted so not the best help I'm afraid.
A good firm no , along with a nice comfy bed to retreat to should do the trick but expect some sneaky manouvres through the evening to keep you on your toes
Welcome from me and the kids

Re: Hi! New red staffy :)
Hi and welcome. I think a crate in your room is a good compromise. I'm sure he will sleep better where you are and you won't spend all night getting him off your bed.

Hi & welcome to the forum ><
I would just make sure you know what rules etc you are going to set the dog and be consistant from the start. Dogs are very good at adapting to a new structure if it is fair.
