and ask people to sign this petition? http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/keep-ned-open/
basically defra are closing down the NED which is a national equine database. if they do this not only will a LAW be rendered useless but it also means that horses will be able to be abandoned and even if they have a microchip the owner won't be found, so microchips will be useless.
its law to chip and passport before selling a horse but with the NED gone noone will need to do this anymore, and basically people will be free to ship horses anywhere in the world without being checked so many horses will go for slaughter (even if they have diseases or medicated and NOT fit for human consumption) stolen horses will never be found cause the theifs will just ship them out of the country, there wont even be a database to log them on as stolen so their microchips will be useless.
it is STUPID to shut it down, so they need to be stopped.
