To be honest these days they are all closing as it's all freely available off the internet, and it was never that good from the shop anyway

It is actually quite shocking all these places that have popped up to flog your lifelong posessions to and get "payday loans" think they should be banned as I can't see how anyone can benefit from them long term apart from the owners, it's just taking mega advantage of people's hard times. We've only got 1 in Leek and strictly speaking it's just a jewellers that has always bought used stuff

Re: pawn shops
We have one or two in our town and no end of those cash converter shops everywhere. With those and charity shops that makes up our town.

Re: pawn shops
We only had one here but its closed down now. We have loads of 'wants' and 'cash converters' which are pretty much the same as pawn shops anyway.

Re: pawn shops
I took a load of photography stuff into one of these years back - when I knew digital was coming and wanted out before my film-based stuff was worthless.
They offered me about 80 quid for the lot.
I took it to Jessops, the photograph people, and they gave me 1200 quid.
There seem to be quite a few of these locally now - but their name seems to change on a fairly regular basis.

Re: pawn shops
cash converters have a 100% return on all items, which is stupid. if they offer you 100 your obv gonna go sell it yourself for 2 lol

Re: pawn shops
I agree with Dave, that they are all just there to take advantage of people who are obviously going through a hard time. Very wrong
