Hi all,
We have recently acquired a staffy pup called Molly who is now 4 months old. Shes fantastic and gets on brilliantly with our springer spaniel Watson
We got her as a rescue pup. She was being kept in a crate with 3 other pups, lying on urine soaked blankets being fed who knows what (inclding shards of bone) until 13 weeks when we picked her up. She was incredibly malnourished and actually got a throat infection the week after we got her. Her fur was so bad that the vet thought she had mange; it later transpired that this was simply due to being kept on the urine soaked blankets. I cannot believe the ignorance of some
In 4 weeks she has doubled her body weight and her coat is beautiful and full.
I do have a couple of queries. She constantly seems to have a dry nose. She is also very slow at eating, and doesn’t eat the recommended grams per day on the back of the food packet although she is still gaining weight.
Finally, I can’t believe the ignorance out there in relation to staffy’s. So many people have asked me (at 4 months) if she has to wear a muzzle when she grows up!!! We have a lot of educating to do it seems.

Re: New member
Hi & welcome to the forum
Well done on the rescue She's is gorgeous
I wouldn't worry too much about her nose being dry. Its a myth that a dry nose means ill health. The weather can make the nose dry and when they are tired there noses dry up, in fact it is normally dry more than its wet.
The nose normally goes wet when there is a new scent in the air. this helps to gather the new scents

Added a little more
Hi and welcome from kenny and me, she sooo cute.
Firstly, try not to worry to much, they sometimes get a dry nose. As for her eating, Kenny doesnt apear to eat that much either, but is a good weight at 20 KG. If she's on dry food , they apear to eat less. Also, her throat could still be a little sore.
I used to by the ready-made,single cartons of puppy milk to give to kenny occasionally. It's a nice treat and full of thir required vitamins too. You could also try a little canned food occasionally, it may be easier on her throat.
As for ignorant people, you'll allways get that. The world is full of them
Super well done on Rescueing her.
