Just joined - eating concerns
Morning all,
My little staff x whippet aged 20 months has gradually gone off her food. She will eat a bit and then wander off and I'm trying not to make a big deal of it because it will put her off completely. She is eating treats and interested in what I've got but not as much as usual. I have tried new food which she did eat for a day or two. Play and drinking normal - still hurling herself at the lead 4 times a day! Could it be the heat?

Re: Just joined - eating concerns
Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me.
It could be the heat. Try not giving her any treats for a day as she may be leaving her food because she knows she will get them.
Put her food down for her as usual and take it away after 10 minutes if she hasn't eaten it. It's OK she wont let herself starve and will soon get the idea that she is to eat her dinner.

Hi & welcome.
If she's lively & drinking ok, I'd do the same as Kathy. If she seems listless or doesn't drink then I'd be more concerned.

Hello
Welcome to the forum, my advise would be to keep life as normal my friend.
You will no your dog better than everyone, if its just eating probs then your right by not fussing her it could be just the heat or maybe a attention seeking habit she"s started.

Thanks everyone. She had an upset tum yesterday morning, probably from me trying things to tempt her, so she got nothing after breakfast anyway. Pleased to say she had a bit of breakfast this morning (under protest - you know that face!) and is now very windy and asleep under my desk!

Bless! Just got some more down her but having to shut her in kitchen with me so she doesn't do a runner - really hoping this isn't going to escalate. She did empty the bowl so I rewarded her with a cuddle and a treat, which I hope was the right thing to do. Had her 8 months as a rescue and she's been so easy going until now.

Re: Just joined - eating concerns
Hi, and welcome from Kenny and me. Yes, it could be the heat. I think if you left the treats off for a few days, she may eat a little more. She sounds well and active. Just keep an eye on her and see how it goes. Keep us updated
